There is difference between working and get something than working and get nothing, you know? Maybe you have so many hours at your disposal, but others don't and have the same right as you to get a house. I'll always be against this unfair placard system.
You say rng to govern your life? Rng is already there... And you have a house already and you got this house before covid. You csn't talk about working to get it.

There is a difference between working for something like getting up early enough to get a house when wards release. Getting into the world at 7:10 when wards open at 6 isn't my idea of working to get a house. Lottery is pure rng and I know you love rng right? Timer needs to be fixed but a lottery isn't the way to fix it.
I see a lot of suggestions get tossed around for housing but seems like people are opposed to most of them, and full heartedly state why they disagree (that's fine) but usually forget to input their suggestions on how to go in a positive direction. I've kind of been behind the instanced housing ideology, but not just 100 item cap no tenant apartment instanced housing. Think like vastly improved over that. I've also said these improved apartments should be subject to the same house decay as normal houses and you can also keep a regular non decaying apartment alongside it, but cannot own a ward house as well as the improved apt. I think that is the fairest way to address the housing situation outside of just opening dozens of new wards and quit trying to incentivize transferring to other data centers or worlds etc.
There are reasons why lottery system is trading in 1 issue for another that will be a abuse prone as well as keeping the supply far too limited. Even if the original idea was to keep housing limited in the beginning the population has ballooned in a FAR greater capacity than what was imagined so limited supply became WAY TOO limited supply and has been a constant source of grievous problems for people wanting to get in the scene while people already invested get slammed or trolled and attacked for actually you know.. owning a house. Kind of mind boggling.
Ok, then how about we change it so it's a week-long questline during which you have to craft 10000 different items (the construction materials for the house) and after you're done you're guaranteed to get your house? That kind of "working for it" I could get behind. But not standing at the placard for half a day, clicking it every five seconds, and when the timer is up someone else was one second faster than you and gets the plot.
I'm also fine with having to be there at the appointed time. That requires planning more than working your ass off. That's how I got my FC's current medium plot. I logged on as soon as I saw the servers up (which thankfully was at 11:00 in my timezone), and by :06 I had purchased the plot. By :20 all the medium plots had gone. Planning is fine, but having to repeatedly click the purchase button and hope you're faster than everyone else is not.
In fact, you may notice that a big part of my suggestion is being there at the appointed time. The sign-up window I suggested is only 10 minutes, a much shorter time than it took to sell even all medium plots in the new wards on my server, let alone small ones. The crucial difference is that three new wards across four housing districts introduced a total of 720 new plots all at once, so all the people who wanted a house dispersed across the 24 new areas (I'm counting subdivisions as separate areas here). Normally when plots become available there's at most a handful at a time so competition will be more fierce. "Who clicks it first" is not a very fun game, thus the suggestion of choosing the winner at random among those who showed up.
Oh stop it layla, it's really annoying. Unlike you i need to work and i can't be online 24/7 and i can be exhausted like any human being. Rng is with a need and greed. Stop defending this system, it's disgusting. Can you try to show sympathy at least? You got your house and more than 1 too. Let others have theirs.
A lottery would be 100000000 times better than what we have now.

What about the poor people who don't craft? And because you craft you shouldn't be guaranteed a house. There are those who suggest that those who earned titles in firmament should be rewarded with a house. Thankfully SE and the development team isn't that foolish.
Not defending the timer personally I'd be happy to seem them limit it to no more than an hour or do away with it altogether. I would be infinitely better than a lottery to say the least where winning it is the only way to hope for a house. I've played the timer/clicking game so I know exactly what it's like.
Exactly you worked for it. You planned for it. You were sure to get there as soon as the servers opened. You were the first to arrive. You deserved to get that house and you did. I got my large in Shirogane during the 4.2 release because i did just that. I practiced those routes and alternative routes for a week before release. I sure didn't put my name in a hat and hope for the best.
First come first served is how it works and should be. You're kidding if you think those who worked to get there first should be faced with having to wait for 10 minutes and then hope they win the house?

So suddenly working for it is not okay if it requires something you don't want to do? Even with a guarantee that your efforts don't go to waste, unlike the current clickfest?
And what has being poor have to do with it? Crafting doesn't require any monetary investment, in-game or IRL. It only requires some time investment to level up, but that's working for it, isn't it?
Honestly, it only took a minimal amount of effort. I didn't have to wake up early. I did have a general idea of which plots I was going for but didn't practice any routes. Granted my server is one of those where the housing problem isn't quite as bad and small plots are practically always available, but still it was really easy to grab a medium.
Imagine sitting at the placard for six hours clicking the purchase button. Five minutes before the timer is up someone else comes there, and because their clicks happen to be better aligned with the timer, they get the house. Still fine?
My main is an omicrafter. That's not the issue. There are lots of people who want a house and who don't craft. Perhaps we should make clearing savage tiers a prerequisite for getting a house. Yeah now that a great idea we should all fly with. After all it requires a lot of effort.
Oh I don't have to imagine it i've done it. I won a house on Balmung clicking a placard. I've also had people swoop in and transfer after having clicked the placard for hours. I would rather see them remove the timer altogether than have an RNG lottery replace it. Please don't try and pretend a lottery is a better solution to the problem then simply removing the timer.

You know how SE is. They put this system because of sellers. They won't remove it unless they find another solution. They won't remove the timer so i rather see a lottery than never get a house and waste hours of my life for nothing, like relocation and never get lucky. I play ffxiv to have fun.
