Starlight Celebration 2020 some msq and raid completion spoilers.

I liked this year's story and mount. Though why it doesn't play anything related to said event is beyond me. Really should stop not expecting this game to not tug at the feels. Not so much from the story, but from the letters. I Love how during one of the letter readings you can see Beatin still not understand how to talk to ladies about wood. If you've done everything in the game including this last tier of Eden you get a total of 13 letters from npcs.

Drowning Wench- complains about the newer adventures not wanting to do fetch quests and instead wanting to save the world.
House Borel- Aymeric is touched that an Ishgardian Holiday has taken route. Is sad that he can't spend it with us and STILL wants to have another dinner with us.
Carline Canopy- wishes us a happy Starlight and says she's kept busy with the new adventures and keeping the water wheel running during the cold months.
Bigwest Shortstop- Roundrox is dreaming of a future where all children's dreams can come true and a day they can see Mide again. Also wants to send us a Starlight gift.
Quicksand- Momodi almost spat out her drink when she heard Starlight might not happen. Until she heard that we were helping out. Wishes we'd visit her more.
Rhalgr's Reach- Lyse writes that they might hold a Starlight of their own next year. Says Rhubaun wants to play Godbert's role. Along with modifying some of the Ala Mhigan traditional dresses for it.
Maelstrom Command- Starlight not a big thing to pirates, but the smile of kids brighten up the hearts of adults and thanks us.
A Traveling Bird- from Alpha, partly. The readable part I want to say is from Wedge saying they ran into them and that they seem to be doing fine.
Lotus Stand- Kane E Sena with the other padjal and like minded people are going to try and make the wishes of the kids who wrote letters to the spinner come true. At least the ones they know they can.
Faerie Kingdom- Fae Ul yells at us for not inviting us to celebrate. Then says jinx I'm just glad my beautiful sapling us taking some time off and having fun.
Fragrant Chamber- Nanamo disagrees with those who say we shouldn't celebrate Starlight in such a uncertain time.
A Distant World- Ryne got told about Starlight from Fae Ul. Talks about the festival they're going to have to celebrate the bringing back of night. Gaia refuses to do manual work. Though is having fun driving around in her own skyslipper.
Menphina's Arms- Adkiragh made some ore fruitcake and put some pineapple in it for Zhloe. Roweana complains about it only costing 300 seals. Also might be the new food Zhole eats as it stays fresher longer than pineapple pudding.

I do like some of the double meaning the starlight quests have, it seems at least partially inspired by current real life situations this year. In particular I would say Nanamo's letter stood out to me the most with the importance of celebrating this holiday even during these uncertain times, especially for the better, as well as the hope that better days will arrive. I know there are some people who do not like real life issues in video games, but I feel Yoshi P. and his team did a good job here, there are many people without hope, and a message like this can help them.

Yeah, I couldn't help but feel that they designed this event with current real life events in mind. Was kinda hard not to. But instead of being all doom and gloom they tried to give a message of hope for a better tomorrow. I think a lot of people, myself included, needed that right now. Hope has been running a little dry lately.

I have not done the event yet and after reading this post I have even less desire to... Personally, I don't need reminders in-game of anything real-life considering that I'm not having Christmas/New Year celebrations this year nor any after until the situation becomes normal again... a good way to make me feel even worse...

Enjoy! The story is pretty good, one of my fav raid stories so far, should be good enough reason to complete it on normal. And, normal is as easy as it can get.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Just do it and skip everything? It would be a bit of a shame to miss out on a reward that you have to pay for later.

The letter you get from completing Eden gives me hope that we did not miss the festival to celebrate the return of the night sky. I remember it building up to that throughout the Eden quest, then nothing. perhaps it is being saved for 5.5 as a conclusion to the First's story.

I was slightly disappointed that we didn't get a letter from anyone in Doma, but otherwise it was a nice touch.

Yeah, I'm sure it will probably be pretty good in the last leg.

I've already been through the first third and a little more and it's been a basic raid series: Stand around talking about aether, battle, stand around talking about aether, battle, etc.. And then there is Gaia, the crusty a-hole who I'm sure will have some sort of emotional turning point and you realise "hey, she might actually be a person!" So they can actually draw this out long enough they throw in a lap of the circle of elements.
