I'm a human being playing a video game, not your personal slave. I am under no obligation whatsoever to hang around in a duty if I ever feel for any reason that I'd prefer spending my time doing something else instead.

You seem a bit too quick to assume they were just being rude. If the run was otherwise going well, it's more likely they were disconnected or forced offline by some emergency.

probably, but it apparently disturbed me so much i just went right to bed without logging out afterward, because i just got to my PC and the game was still running

Yes, I do believe I'm entitled to decide how to spend my free time. I also believe I'm entitled to stop playing a game at any time I wish if I so desire. You act like there's something wrong with that lmao.

Please remember this is a video game, not a job, not a real-life commitment. You have zero claim to my time any more than I have a claim to yours. The fact that there's a penalty at all for being the first one to leave a duty is more entitlement than you deserve when it comes to influencing my decisions regarding whether I stay in a duty or leave. You should be happy for that and not try to push for more because, again, I am a human being playing a video game and not a slave.

The fact that there's a penalty at all for being the first one to leave a duty is more entitlement than you deserve when it comes to influencing my decisions regarding whether I stay in a duty or leave. You should be happy for that and not try to push for more because, again, I am a human being playing a video game and not a slave.

The penalty is there to encourage you to not waste the time of other players. Especially if it's the tank or healer who leaves, the remaining players may be forced to wait tens of minutes before a replacement can be found, or alternatively queue for the duty again which also may take significant time (in addition to having to redo the duty from the beginning). It's only fair that the person who leaves is similarly inconvenienced.

If you wish to play with no regard to other players, I recommend picking up another installment of the Final Fantasy series. Except for XI and XIV they're all single player games, with all the freedom of schedule that entails.
