Do you have alts? If so, do you clear all content on them?

Yes, many. I like messing around with different aesthetics and angles for RP.

How much content I complete on alts...including whether or not they make it through MSQ...varies.

Currently I have:

1 character to make it most of the way through Shadowbringers (this character who has done through Dying Gasp and at some point I will return to the story stuff)
4 characters to make it into Heavensward of which one has done Singularity Reactor
and 5-6 characters scattered around in Realm Reborn content on servers with road to 70

I'm an altaholic which I know is weird for this game. But I love variety. My FC mates think I'm crazy for having alts in a game that rewards you for doing everything on one character.

Yesterday, I grouped with a couple people in Bozja doing skirmishes and CEs, and one of them started talking about how they needed to do all this stuff again to gear up their alts. I immediately wondered about this because that seems to go against the grain in FFXIV. I also felt a kinship spirit with this person because I have three separate level 80 characters and one other close to 80, and then a few in the mid-50s range.

But I really don't do anything on those alts other than the MSQ and maybe an alliance raid or two. I level them mostly for aesthetic reasons. (I like to play as different races.) Whereas on my main, I do everything the game has to offer and make sure it's geared.

So I'm curious. Do you have alts and if so, do you also clear all the content on them? Keep them geared, have everything unlocked, etc.?

I have one alt, I rolled - I have a few threads that talk about this - and I am doing all the content - why? To experience the story again, save the gil and create a new "story" for my self.

I find altoholism saves me a ton of RL cash. I'm not at all interested in single character cash shop items.

Uh, same, there are so many outfits there I want but the thought of having them on just one character instead of all seems like a waste of money. Though emotes still get me.

No alts here. My primary reason for creating alts in other MMORPGs is being able to play different classes, and that reason just doesn't exist here. Another is seeing all the different storylines, which was pretty big in SW:TOR but almost doesn't exist here either. I'm hoping I'll be able to experience the starter quests of the other city-states through new game+ (or maybe I can already, I should check). Reasons that could be relevant in the future but haven't yet is creating a character on a different data center or getting more retainers for storage and MB sale slots.

A crafting alt that I made to take advantage of having more specializations and desynth types, but I haven't needed it since those restrictions/benefits were removed or reduced. I only did MSQ as needed to get access to more areas.

The city starter quests are all pretty much exactly the same, beat for beat, there's just slight differences. Most come down to locale and Scion partners.

My favorites are Limsa > Gridania. Nothing wrong with Ul'dah... but meh.

What about different races? Yes there are potions, but I would rather make a new alt if I wanted a new race, alas my new alt is still the same race as my character here on the forms. >.> LOL. I wanted to make a sexy bunny lady - but I could not come up with an RP for her in my head. For my Human race its always "I am not from here, I am poor and I will make my way" alas my Main - this character - is poor and my new alt is gaining wealth through dungeons and MSQ alone oO - even though they say you don't make "real money" off the MSQ. try again peeps!

It goes by your city state you first started in. So if you selected a class in Limsa you will new game + in limsa regardless of the GC you are in, unless I am doing something wrong because I tried this last night because I was curious how it worked.
