I'm in a housing Discord and this was posted.

Someone asked how it happened, and those were the answers. Later responses were they did it by buying out FCs with alternate characters.

Now either that person is doing it to be special and have a whole ward, or they're going to upcharge relo's to people later.

... This is why we can't find houses, or have a chance. Sure, there's already a limited supply. But this is ridiculous. And the fact they get away with it is even more messed up.
Like.. I saw this and I'm just .... Ugh. This is another reason I tend to dislike billionaires in this game.



NOTE: This is on Diablos, on Crystal. Even if it's not a busy server, it's one of the busiest DCs. So even worse.

we're actually the least busiest DC, but that doesn't give an excuse. this has been a problem on mateus too. its unfortunate

Crystal is home to Mateus and Balmung, which in turn have a very large population of role-players. The strain when it comes to getting a house is even bigger there as a result because role-players are more likely to want and use one compared to regular players.

If they found a way to get everyone a house this would be a feature not an issue (I see nothing wrong with a player wanting to own an entire town if they wanted, and it didn't harm other players).

If only there was some system or concept out there that could do that.

Pipedream towards Wildstar like system (while keeping Wards as an exterior accessory 'option' for players that want it), but I personally would also probably be satisficed in a compromise but is also 'new content' mindset if they went a sort of WoW garrison route (where it was for everyone, contained the features of housing and much more, housing users could also have and use it) but used airships instead (long term, expansive, node based progression system with node customization which means it'll take far less memory to store and pass around).

Then the features that made housing special are into that system (crafting basement for example could be at Cid's garage where your airship is stored, or in your airship if it's large enough, gardens could exist within airships, etc) and so only people that wanted /specifically/ the house would get it, while people who just wanted an easily decorate-able home base with long term value and progression (imagine choosing between different inn room themes, FFXIV is your designer but you do get to make 'some' choices), the features of housing+ (whether you're FC or a single player), and nostalgia of airships could get that (and if you wanted both you could cause... sure whatever lol).

This is very true. There are a lot of RP nightclubs and bars etc. Irs sort of unfortunate though for OP.

im aware that it is, but my statement still stands. crystal is the only datacenter with preferred servers, currently at 5 (diabolos being one of them). balmung is the only server thats temporarily contested (at this exact time) but its still a standard server. balmung is no longer the most popular server either, gilgamesh, leviathan and a few others pass it with active characters. even inactive, a few still pass balmung.

as i said in my original post, this DOES NOT GIVE AN EXCUSE, i am not defending said person, i was merely correcting one statement while also saying a ward being bought out by a single (or few) folks is a problem in mateus as well, and it shouldn't be. we all know the housing system has been messed up, and SE knows it is too.

The FC loop hole needs to be shut. The intent was 1 FC and 1 private per account per server and not more. Obviously that isn't what is happening in some cases and needs to be fixed. An alt can no longer buy a private house on the same server if the main owns a private. They changed it and it's working. It's not working for FC's. Sadly I think SE knows about it and isn't really doing anything to fix it.

We are already far past the point of having instance housing, but who knows. Personally instance housing is better and I think Wildstar and ESO are good examples to take inspiration from.

If I do recall correctly and I could be wrong, they made it into ward so that everyone can convene around the ward square and hang out. The thing is though that you can still do the same with instanced housing, you can setup events in your own house and whatnot and invite people and with party finder people can advertise your event there as well.

Not just that but FC housing has more benefits as they will have their own workshop and FC rooms. Obviously this can be easily resolved if there is another door (Which there is) in the GC area, which leads into a something similar to an apartment but for an FC that leads into rooms and workshops.

As for addressing the Multi-buying option, it'll be really difficult cause there are some people who will buy more than 1 account and will try to buy the entire ward. Instance housing is the only way to prevent this sort of abuse but instance housing is unlikely to be done in FFXIV. Only thing they can do now is just adding more ward, which only extends the problem rather than solving the problem.

We have instanced housing. All interiors are instanced whether house, apartment or FC chambers.

It's the exteriors that aren't instanced and that is causing the problem. SE just needs to extend the instancing to include the exteriors, using the placard as the portal to multiple player plots at that location just as the apartment building door is the portal to multiple apartments.

They really just need to make Ishgard to be either instanced, or incremental wards that add based on the world "building" the wards through restoration. I really want to get rid of my house as a destructible thing because I want to take breaks sometimes to play other games. ><
