I'd say they're pretty damn close in shape. Obviously not 1:1, but much closer than I originally thought they were tbh.

Even the basic layout of forest and desert is fairly close. Ul'dah, Ala Mhigo, Gridania and Sharlayans colony all shift over to the map of Africa reasonably accurately, even Ishgard sort of makes sense, if you picture the Sahara as a frozen desert instead of a sandy one.

The main differences seem to be the lack of mountain ranges along the west/south of the Sahara, and Africa's complete lack of a sea of floating islands

Madagascar was just shifted to the other side of the continent.

If you turn that chunk of land 90degress you will not only see the UK, the naval power house of its history, and France, and Italy is literally a boot into the Adriatic sea.

They did very similar cultural references in FFXI. The Elvan and Sandoria were a medieval castles built on European themes, Bastock the industrialized young western country, and Tarutaru and Windurst were ment to represent Japan.

but also because there is no Nordic Countries on Hydaelyn either.

Heavens ward is about as northern European as you can get, The construction of the castles is exacerbated, but the power that religion holds, they way their religious figures dress. That's all very orthodox.

Either way it is a troll thread try to have fun with it. In short people take race, ethnicity, representation and everything inbetween far too seriously. I get the general idea but in practice it seems like a senseless cause.

As someone mentioned sure it would be awesome to see someone on the spectrum that also happens to be a blond hair blue eyed puerto rican but at the end of the day at least for me the inclusion or even lack of does not inherently make the product better or worse.

I do wonder if most people would have a problem with my hot take that this game would be better in terms of character and recognition if all the characters were dark skin.

It’s well known that most people see others of their race distinctively while they all look similar to other races. I have no doubt the game would be better for you if all the characters have dark skin.

But it wouldn’t sell nearly as much. Or be better for the majority of the people playing it, it would be worse.

If black people want a game full of black people nothing is stopping them from making one. In fact they’re currently being actively encouraged to do such things.

I succinctly remember people like you, 4chan, and stormfront saying the same thing about Black Panther. Precedence shows otherwise. You don't understand markets and marketing and the environment products and services operate in.

I thought it wasn't about skin, why should pale skin people like yourself be against more dark skin characters, or an all dark skin character cast of characters? Or maybe you don't like people because of the color of their skin? The problem isn't people wanting to see more dark skin characters in the game, the problem is in your head.

Furthermore, if pale skin people like yourselves don't want games to have dark skin characters like yourself nothing's stopping them from making one. There's in fact quite a few for you to choose from.

It's the whole reason there is a loud minority in these kinds of subjects. Most people know it's a silly thing to request, yet they stay silent because they might be called a racist, a "Vauthry", a shooter, etc.

You can not be passionate about it, that's fine. Having different opinions is also fine...but not when it's about morals and basic, common decency. If you lack it then you better feel bad about it.

Personally, diversity is not a priority and I already don't expect much of it in this game, but it would still be nice to have.
