I need help, I am bored (burnt out maybe?) [NOT a troll thread]

So I am a level 80 BLM as my main. BLM for life!

I also have a level something tank and a a few other classes.

Lately I have been focused on my crafting and gathering classes. They are between 60-80 and I have all but leather working, alchemist and fishing (f*** fishing - my opinion only)

Crafting has been fun, till the bots came and ruined the market - made it easy for things like iron and other ores that I don't feel like gathering for a few hours but made it hard to sell anything of value.

For example you list something at say 170k, come back 24 hours later and that same item now sells for 200gil (exaggeration to make a point) and the market for that item is overrun.

Is it true that "everything sells eventually?"

I am NOT caught up in class quests for these crafting and gathering classes.but I need a break.

So I thought lets do dungeons. I need more tomes any ways. I am caught up on patch stuff, I don't like needless grind, so my relic weapon for this expansion hasn't been upgraded to the second tier yet. I know Yoshi mentioned there will be other ways to upgrade the relic weapon(?)

I also don't log in much because I think "what is there to do, run dungeons, raids, alliance stuff - finish crafting, dailies, level my bard (closest to 80)".

There's a million and one things to do, I got my apartment, never gonna get a house till they someday make them instanced or lottery based (good gil sink for lottery based).

I am curious - should I take a break, let the FC know and hope they don't kick me? Should I suck it up and just keep playing and find something else to do?

I am also very poor in the game (have been since day one), I went from 1.5 mil (the most I've ever had) to 170k - I really should just level every gatherer including the dreaded fishing.

Would it be feasible to just create a new character and run the story (there's like 4 expansions (I do love the story) - the gill!!!!! - that's like what 100 mil?, if you spend no gil accept for repairs and traveling - I could give that gil to my main. )

The problem with this is now I have two characters that I have to maintain instead of one and a billion classes. LOL.

What do you want from us?

Tips? Ideas? New things to do?

I am use to login in and checking my three retainers who need new gear - getting their coin bags and items (rewards), then once a week on Tuesday I trade those coin bags for 20k gill and a cut scene and a time out till next Tuesday - Doman .........what ever its called hahaha.

Have I burnt my self out? Do you get burnt out?

I am afraid to log out for an extended period of time because I usually do around now till the new expansion but this would be my what ... 5th -6th FC? And they have said "let a admin know if you'll be gone for more then 45 days" but this would be what almost 6months maybe longer? for the new expac?

    Thoughts?

Not everything sells eventually, certainly not for every price. If you seriously wanna make money off the marketboard, you gotta cater to demand. You have some things that aren't super expensive but regularly needed, and other things that are hot on arrival, but drop in price over time. You gotta do research to figure out the former options.

Nothing wrong with taking a break to avoid burnout. If your FC is going to kick you for taking a break from the game, you can probably find a better FC.

This, if your FC is that strict about breaks then they aren't a good FC to be with. Everyone needs to take breaks occasionally. Just take a break and if they kick you then their loss. You don't owe them or this game your entire life.

If you have to invent stuff to do, you need time to unplug. It's not fun if it's a choir! Alt's, and I have many, only overburden you more, and burn you out faster once you feel obligated to keep up with each of them. Stepjam is right, if guilds/people are quick to reject you, or even talk down to you in authoritative way, you are best to be rid of them.

    Take a break.

If the FC is going to kick you for that then good riddance; nobody should be glued to this game.

"Tell me if you're gonna be gone for longer than 45 days..." Please.

This isn't work. I know people confuse that concept sometimes, but if you're feeling this burnt-out, then leave. Don't let an FC dictate when or how you play this game.

on the subject of making gil, i have 60 mil gil, and while thats not a lot to end game crafters, its enough for most folks and i don't craft outside of just having them at 80 for repairs. i just do content, maps, EX trials, even basic roulettes give you gil. you can sell the craftable items from EX trials, sell eureka and bozja items (fragments, mounts, minions, emotes etc) or sell rare drops from dungeons (minions, housing items etc) you dont NEED to craft in order to gain gil, it just makes the process faster if you're good with the MB.

and like everyone else says, if you're burnt out just take a break, nothing wrong with that.

Either take a break or join me in my adventures across eorzea doing side quests, getting mounts and maybe at some point going for achievements. You could try to do the 2000 mentor rlts as well if you wanna learn how to be a better teacher.

FFXIV is like those old fun mmorpgs of 2008-2014 era; where there's not much to do because you're not artificially gated by extremely grindy levels by making every dungeon savage-raid level of difficulty.

This is more like classic FF where everything's accessible, but this also means you kinda do finish everything quickly. It's then up to you to go through the game again on an alt or through new game+.

In the end FFXIV is an "all or nothing" game. You either do everything the game has to offer, to keep you occupied; or you 1-3 month breaks from the game and come back when there's more; or find a better game. There's no real middle ground. Me? I do everything the game offers, except savage raiding, so I always find something to do. From old relics, to new relics, to ocean fishing to hunts; there's always something on my radar. Because I like dabbling into everything the game has. It seems to me as if you only enjoy questing and nothing else? I'd suggest leveling an alt to bring that feeling of fun questing back to you; or do the main story through "new game+" again.

I agree with a lot of you about the FC thing, I think a lot of FC's have this because there is a cap on how many people can join.

What are some thing s you guys find enjoyable in game that keeps you going when you're like "hmmm.....what now" or do you switch over to another game for a bit?
