I hear you need 3 different types of these memories, do certain types drop in certain zones or is it just a random which ones you get?It is too easy outside of Bozja to be honest. It took me under 3 hours to farm the 60 Memories and spam 6 dungeons. Relic done day one. Bozja itself seems fine on relic droprate. This is content that's meant to keep us occupied until 5.4 after all.
I'm also unsure why they chose HW FATE's and level 60 dungeons of all things for a lv80 relic. It's more of a free handout path than an alternate grind.
Bozja seems fine and was enjoyable, but the alternate path is just strange. They're so afraid to ask us to do things this expansion.
I get the feeling that it's Yoshida deciding to monkey's paw everyone (including me) who said that they found the Anima weapon grind better than the Eureka one. So now we get to effectively do an Anima weapon again.
Yayyyyy....
(that or it's to drag the trial/f2p players trough content)
The FFXIV Developers have this weird thing where they're constantly concerned with "keeping old content alive" and their main way of doing that seems to be Relic content.
They've done it since HW.
Crafting is just as bad. For the longest time you'd have to go into ARR to get materials for mid to high level crafts (effervescent water, silver ore etc)
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
The three different memory types correspond to the level bands of the zones that you do FATEs in.
First type drop in Western Coerthas and Sea of CLouds
Second type in Dravanian Forelands and Churning Mists
Third type in Dravanian Hinterlands and Azys La
You need 20 of each type of memory per relic weapon for the second stage.
Third stage then requires you to get 6 memories which you can get from running lv60 dungeons, or 1 per day from running Levelling Roulette.
Complain it's that you can't get the relic as fast inside Bozja. However, there is that chance that people have not figured it out how to properly farm the items there. I remember Yoshida mentioning that enemies are a better source of drops compared to fates.

Lockboxes are a bit on an issue as well. I've gotten 7-8 now and once again, nothing but materia and fireworks. Plus, they're much harder to get. They only drop from critical engagements or if you turn in a history page. If you're not getting selected for engagements (I signed up for 3 in the last hour and got in none of them and saw one page drop from a dozen or so skirmishes), then you're basically screwed on that. Its just layers of rng on rng on rng again.
And I agree on the relic thing. I don't mind if focusing on just the relic in fates gets you the relic a bit faster. But the disparity in time invested shouldn't be so huge.
The funny part is, I recall Yoshi saying you could do the relic solo, it would just take longer. I think he was a wee bit off on that.
Any1 know what highest rank n how long is the story?
Different people.
I always thought you should have to do the relic content to get a relic. I was rather disappointed when they announced engaging with it would be optional this time, and I'm very disappointed to find out it's the more efficient route.
This instance feels better in a lot of ways but multiple aspects such as FATEs dying too quickly, the gods-awful party queue system for engagements (It shouldn't exist when you can't even guarantee your entire party is going to get into the engagement and should just allow individual queues at all times), ,unavoidable mettle loss from deaths (Which can easily be caused by other players), and the obnoxiously long tether range on mobs all are sources of frustration for me still.
It is also really dumb that it's faster to relic grind outside of the instance then inside.
The 100% chance is the big issue. Even at 50% there'd be enough uncertainty to perhaps put you off totally rejecting Bozja.Lockboxes are a bit on an issue as well. As we all know, a 50% chance in XIV may as well be 10%.
