Yes I have wanted this for so long. My favorite coat is caster only and would look so good on my MCH. For those of you that are saying no. Do you have a reason other than "class fantasy" cause we all know that's bull. I see tanks in swimsuits, melee frogs and casters is plate all the time.

Also, the number of male characters in a thong running around really makes me question what the actual percentage of .... (nevermind).

Basically, I just got done with a random with a Barista Tank, and hula girl as a Dragoon, and hells, I was doing my Blackknight Red mage look. The Healer was a lala, and frankly, I can never tell what they are going with as their fairy is larger than they are.
I play on Aether. More specifically Siren. A far less populated server than yours. I really shouldn't have to point out that I said, "from my experience" in my post. By stating this, what this does is not allow posters such as yourself to invalidate my post; as much as you would like to try. My last random group all had players looking the part. Not a pig, frog, or bikini among them except maybe the DNC, which is a job already known to be scantily clad during combat. Again I will say that I would not allow the minority to represent the majority. I DO see these players in my duties; but they are nowhere near the same number of players who prefer to look and use glamour options pertaining to their job/role.

I should also mention that little attire =/= poor glamour selection by the player. This seems to be heavily implied by the playerbase when I see bikinis and 2B bottoms being tossed around in their arguments. These glamour choices don't prevent players from being tasteful with their selection, or being true to the job they are playing.

I am also not sure who you are arguing with by telling me you can tell what job a player is by their stance and weapon. I don't seem to recall making any posts where I said job identification is an issue. While I don't want to see any WHMs lugging around a giant axe anytime soon; this argument is neither here or there. We are not talking about their weapons. We are talking about their attire.

Af should stay locked, but anything | other than that should be freed up

I mean I'm a DNC. The sorts of gear we wear is ALREADY available to everyone (Thavnarian bustier, etc) so why not?

Weapons can stay job specific, I don't think anyone would mind that much.
I am not sure why players feel they need to mention that job specific AF is off the table. Is anyone actually wanting this to be cross-glamur as well? Other than a minut portion of players.

A lot of the gear DNCs like to wear such as the Thavnairian Bustier have been available as general glamours for years. It's not like it was exclusive the DNC, and then they made it available to everyone. This hardly makes a strong case to stop putting role restrictions on gear, which for the most part is intended for combat, but used as glamour choices.

Yeah, because what I totally want to see is a BLM wearing DRG armour. /sarcasm lol
I really, really hope SE will never do this. The beachwear tanks are bad enough already.

What's wrong will the a mage in armour? This is pretty common in fantasy settings. Instead of just laughing off a suggestion try giving an actual reason why you don't think it is a good idea

I don't think they should remove the restrictions entirely but I would like to see more sets get unrestricted glam versions in the case of ones where the looks don't really scream "This is for *insert role*" and/or could pass as casual wear like they did with the Sky Pirate/Rat sets.

The Shisui and Nomad sets stick out to me in that regard.

I would always appreciate more glam options, but I don't think they are gonna open the floodgates and make everything avilable to every job. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually went back and lock the ARR and HW Gathering/crafitng gear or general accessories to role.

Plus if you're of the camp that thinks restrictions are nessisary to be creative, then unlocking all the gear would be seen as killing creativity

With that said I feel like there'd be some nice compromises I can accept such as
    1. Unlocking all accessories or at least having the role locked models be used for ARR dungeon accs (since they are gonna replace the pink ones eventually). Plus I don't think the Winged Earrings used for Manasilver/Drawven/Asthethe's are inherently indicative of a crofter
    2. More Diverse gear design. Gordeas has a lot of stuff that are exclusive to Tanks and the Gear design contest winners also naturally yielded unique stuff that some jobs wouldn't get otherwise or without Savage raiding (For example, a battlemage glam would've been hard to pull off were it not for the Gordian or Bonewiica caster/healer sets). Have more stuff like that once in awhile would help
      • Related is ensuring that some gear sets are closer to some jobs than others. It could be as simple has having Red Caster Gear (RDM) or as having more cloth options for Tanks (GNB).
    3. Updating older gear sets for new jobs. I'm specifically talking about the Job-locked Warwolf and Battleliege gear, which as such cannot be worn by RDM, SAM, GNB or DNC. Either that or reusing the models for role locked dungeon gear instead (they haven't touched the PVP models for some reason, The Twelve's accs aside)
    4. The aforementioned model swapping, especially when combined with point two
    5. A Chartreuse Dye (that is more of a personal preference, as the i90MNK AF gear is the only gear in the game that has that color besides the [thankfully also for MNK] Ears of the Moon Rabbit)

I would love this. Makes me jealous seeing those Syrcus Tower fodder enemies wearing High Allagan fending set as mages. I like armors with metals (or details) on casters. And I'm kinda tired of the generic coat/robe #4332.

PS: For more argument on the topic, they have recycled original caster armors and gave them to striking/aiming sets for example. I can be a dancer looking like a caster. So that rule that people need to be their job to wear that armor type to identify the job is bullshit.
