Are you console or pc player? If pc player, make sure to bypass firewall for Ff14 program exemption / Windows Defender firewall. For ps4 it helped my spouse by lowering the MTU and setting external DNS servers ( google).

It's a bit strange but I really haven't experienced disconnect yet today. Ever since I added the rule for Windows Defender firewall.. Not sure if just lucky or the bomb is ticking waiting for another disconnect..

I've had another 90k2 today as well. Sadly, no fix on their end. I'm not jumping into a Windows reset quite yet, as I'm taking time to verify that I have files backed up before I do, so there's still time to look into other fixes. I don't 100% expect that to fix it if I do, but on the other hand, the fact that for most intents and purposes my SO and I have identical rigs but only I'm having issues, tells me there's got to be something specific to my install. At this point the only thing I can think of is to see if SO and I have the same version of Windows (not that I can go back if he's dodged the "updates" so that's a moot point anyway). Or that I'm using an SSD and my SO doesn't have one. But at this point I'm utterly grasping at straws.

The troubleshooter thinking the DNS isn't responding is really weird, but it's almost surely a false positive, because my evidence to the contrary is that I'm connected to the internet at all. No DNS = no internet connectivity. I still see a pattern of either during or very shortly after area transitions being the point at which it disconnects, which might mean there's a bug with how they handle instance code or character transportation. Square Enix is throwing up their hands and saying "dunno" and I don't really see how I can do anything but the same. I may reinstall windows over the week just to try the final nuclear option, but I don't have high hopes.

The problem persists despite windows firewall being completely disabled, and regardless of whether the DNS is set to Xfinity or Google. At least, I think so. I'll try setting DNS to Google with the firewall disabled.

There should be no reason for troubleshooter to think your DNS is not set.. I think you bought a new network card, did you disable the old one which is probably on motherboard?

By the way make sure to keep track of what you had change...

So the upnp setting in Ff14 config should be enabled. Unless you added port forward in your router. But port forward is specific to your computers ip address. For 1 person to play on network that's fine but you cannot port forward when 2 players are both playing.. Hence you should remove the port forward rules in router enable upnp if it isn't, and enable that in your Ff14 config as well.
Windows firewall should be stopped or in/out bound program exemption added to the 3 processes I mentioned for Ff14.

You can hard code the DNS to google, but troubleshooter really shouldn't say you have no DNS.

Make sure to relaunch Ff14 when the changes above are set correctly and they you are not changing it while Ff14 is already running. I am assuming you are running it on DirectX 11?

Yes, I did. Still acts like it can't find the DNS. Which makes... absolutely no sense.

Oh yeah, that's basically what I've been doing here, keeping logs and notes and hoping maybe someone from SE is taking notes because they don't seem to know what's going on themselves...

Well, I have uPnP enabled on the modem, but had it disabled on FF14's configs to test, and still having issues. I do know port forwarding is specific to my IP, and the port forwarding rules were set with that in mind. I can remove the port forward rules in modem though, no big deal. Windows Firewall is currently disabled.

I know, right? That's so bizarre. Honestly thinking I might just take the network card out and see if it's still doing that while just running the native mobo ethernet cause that's... just weird.

I experienced a 90002 disconnect just now. Wasn't in any instances, just open world.

Piping up to say that yes, me too. I was trying to do a class quest, got kicked out in the middle of it. Logged back in and tried again, this time got to the end of the quest, then teleported to a city, and the area was really slow to load, and then I was dropped out and got that same "Connection to the server was lost" message. All told, maybe 5 minutes between the connection breaks.

Edit: Forgot to say that this is new to me. Only been getting these errors for less than a week now, and not nearly as frequently until now.

Probably really all server load related. Their servers depending on which you connect to for your character must be maxing out it's connections.
