Why don't we hear about egi glamours anymore?

Devs don't post here, sadly. Most you'd get is a mod telling you that they passed it along, or that they are "looking into it".

And we rarely, if ever, get that for most things so...

They didn't even hide it on the back burner. They added carbys in 3.5 and then talked a big game about adding more during Stormblood patches, then said they're actually still working on it and to look forward to it in patch 5.1 at the earliest, and here we are today.

They should either start adding some or at least talk about it again.

I think that the fairy looks really good, but it's so blindingly bright it's hard to make out how they really look.

What’s the status of egi glamours and/or new egis?

Egi glamours are slated to be deployed in patch 3.5, as the system has taken quite a bit of time but is almost finished. The first set will just be various Carbuncle glamours of varying colors, but once the system is in place, players can look forward to more egi glamours on a regular basis. Some of them may have certain restrictions, such as not allowing Ramuh as a tank egi, but that’s not set in stone at this point.

As for new egis… well, that’s a secret.

Yoshi-P has also mentioned it again during one of the Live Letter Reruns in May or June (don't remember exactly) where he's mentioned that its still happening, but he's "not at liberty to talk about it" - at least thats how the folks over at the Reddit Discord chose to translate it.

It relieved me to know that it's still on their radar, but it's upsetting that it's so vague. Even a modicum more of certainty would've done the world for me.

I want to really learn to play SMN beyond casually (right now I play it for simple, braindead content like hunts) but I don't want to invest the time and energy based on what seems to be looking more and more like a false promise.

I wish there was even a third party mod and that mods like that would be allowed, but for the time being I'm stuck with the mummified cat (Ifrit-egi) and carbuncles.
