Post things that make you smile/happy when playing FFXIV

Was leveling an alt recently and died in a very dumb way. While I was waiting for a friend to come raise me, I saw a random player approaching. I thought "Oh, they're going to give me a rez, cool."

They did not give me a rez. Instead, they slowly circled my corpse, silently contemplated me for a minute, then finally declared in Say: "God, I wish that was me." And left.

It was so unexpected I actually burst out laughing IRL. Those moments where you have little unplanned interactions with other players are my favorite.

- Flying on my broom, listening only to the wind, no UI, sometimes first person only, just going through the area, between rocks and trees, high and low. Any area will do, some will be better than others (Coerthas Western Highlands comes to mind for example).

- Acting with kindness to total strangers, especially inside DF, while never complaining. Thanking people while never expecting even a single answer and meaning it.

- Receiving random and unexpected little acts of kindness from people i never knew before and probably never meet ever again.

- Doing well with whatever DPS class i'm using and levelling in a dungeon and feeling useful.

- Learning new things by observing how people play their roles. Receiving tips in dungeons that help me understand the mechanics better.

- Being sucked into the amazing stories spread everywhere in this world. Even the smallest NPCs interest me and love the characterisation.

- Being able to counteract bad (and often deteriorating) mental health by living inside this world. Being challenged to stay alive and not give up hope.

- Music. Oh goddess how could i forget the amazing music. It makes my heart swell and often makes me smile.

I love seeing how pretty my characters look. Like, obviously I liked the designs when I made them, but the creation screen doesn't do them justice for how they look once they're live characters moving and emoting, or in certain lights.

The scenery is gorgeous too. There are so many beautiful places in the game-world, some of them quite out of the way, and even familiar places in different weather and times of day can look new and different.

Glamour is a big one - trying things on; finding things that match; that great moment when it all comes together and works. Getting to wear it and see it in motion. Seeing other people in good glamours too!

Also the story and characters. I love little moments where they interact and show their personalities. Never pass up an opportunity to speak with everyone else before the person with the quest objective marker.

And music - it's probably the biggest factor in whether I like a dungeon or find it tedious.

- Seeing another Roe.
- Watching a sprout tank eat a TB and die during tank wars.
- Dead lalafels.
- Watching tanks cleave a group during tank wars.
- Great glamour.

The namazu beast tribe quests. I wish I could replay them all again

- Getting a PUG PLD to Clemency less so they can focus on the mobs.
- Great Gubal Library theme. We need MORE jazz music!
- Seeing creative and colorful glams.
- Carbuncle mount. Was getting a little tired of the hoof sfx from the horse mounts.
- BRD's who play music in Limsa/Ul'Dah for everyone.

Just the other day someone in my FC realized that if you put the camera in first person mode and pan around you, your character will spin.
We had a LOT of fun trying out different emotes and spinning. One of our favorites to spin to was /lean, because the center of gravity is wonky and your foot is your focal point.

Looking through the housing decoration tag on twitter. The sheer talent and skill of people in this game is astounding!
