Few days ago, while running a Level 80 roulette, I had a healer who kept running out ahead of me, the tank. They were drawing aggro from the mobs while I was trying to play catch-up, and I was damned tempted to let them die.

You don't dictate the pace. You think you do, but you don't. There is no longer such a thing as "Maxing my DPS while maintaining aggro" since all you have to do is throw on tank stance and call it a day. If you're in a 80 dungeon and not pulling everything, then I have to question what you've been doing in dungeons this entire time.

Sounds to me like you're not ready for Level 80 roulette and aren't that good of a tank as at that level, it's expected that you pull everything. Maybe stick to Trusts or form your own group in PF if you want to go at a slower pace? I know that's not what you want to hear but you're going to receive a LOT of resistance baby pulling at that level.

Honestly.... I feel this as someone who was wanting to go through a dungeon and read the things on the ground. The books in Gubal Library, the notes left by fallen soldiers in the first HW dungeon... A lot of it I wanted to take just a minute to skim through before proceeding BUT OH WAIT THEY'RE GOING I GUESS I HAVE TO TOO.... Imo... I miss when a dungeon was fun to explore and be amazed at. I feel like that was a big take to the final dungeon of Shadowbringers... Getting to look around and witness things, taking it in... having fun, enjoying the game... It's amazing how only a month will pass and people claim something as "old content" and not care anymore or not try though. I have people in Ocean fishing who just don't fish until its "the trip they want" and a GM has confirmed "1st off, I wouldn't say 1-2 months is old content... 2nd, regardless of age, you should still be trying or otherwise you're hindering your group". Idk.... I feel like that's why the rules got updated to say that playstyles vary but people REALLY don't like you enjoying yourself unless you're also rushing your damage down through dungeons and completing as fast as possible because META/MyTimeIsMoreImportantThanYours or some nonsense...

As for all these people who are telling you that you MUST PULL EVERYTHING, or "you're holding them back" or some bs... Tough Kupo Nuts. Their time is no more precious than yours and if they want "fast" clears they can find a group of people in party finder or some friends to run with instead of queue'ing for duty roulette that literally can you range you from new first time players to veterans. That said, you can be efficient but also tell your party "I wanna take it slow, first time" or even simply "I never get to look around this place so I'ma do this" or "I wanna read this"... Communication is key. How you play is on your own part but experiencing content is something every game should be seen as more valued. We've become pretty spoiled with content and demand everything be NEW NEW NEW and don't even take the time to consider how beautiful/amazing/elaborate some pieces are. There is NOTHING wrong with enjoying content at a relaxed pace you set with your group and you trying your best you know how.

TL;DR: I miss when I could actually look around and explore a dungeon and when being a tank meant you lead the way to what you wanted to pull rather than dps/healers pulling for you saying "idc about you, just let me do it".... Ya know, back when FFXIV wasn't so huge and popular and people were relatively kind/considerate to one another to allow them to enjoy the content at a relaxing pace.

The standard in random groups is to pull as much as possible and clear through the dungeon as fast the group can manage. If you aren't willing to meet that standard then it is on you to speak up to the party at the beginning of the instance so they can decide to either deal with it, leave, or vote kick. If you say nothing and still do that you really have no grounds to complain when the healer that's bored runs ahead and pulls more.

Damn tempted? I just let them die. Nothing requires you to AoE those mobs

Some healers and dps need to be put in their place. You want to pull fast then strap on a sword and shield or long sword and go at it but until then sit back and enjoy the ride.

People don't want to spend 20min + in a boring dungeon . Rush is necessary if you don't want it don't queue as a tank for a dungeon

I like wall-to-wall pulls because I love aoeing it all down as fast as possible. That's fun for me as DPS. When I tank I also try to do wall-to-wall (unless I haven't tanked in a while and I'm rusty - I'll pull medium size pulls to get back in the groove before going ham later in the dungeon).

I don't mind if tanks don't pull wall-to-wall, just please don't pull one pack of mobs at a time. That kills me as I feel my aoes and cooldowns are being wasted.

A tank are nothing without a healer so what are you exactly talking about ? if the healer want to pull more its because its boring to pull a dungeon one by one. Nothing require you to aoe those mobs ? Please i hope you don't play tank. bad

You... know thats exactly why i asked?
If i want to hear the other side of something because it confuses me and makes me curious, I will give my point of view and maybe i will get an answer to it. They find it boring, i do not for the reasons i gave. Now i want to know what makes it boring to them.

Because I write a lot during dungeons if the people are also talkactive and i also write a lot with my friends while i do dungeons in general. I just stop to dps/heal, like everybody SHOULD do when there's enemies on screen. For me it's like, if i really wanted to interact with people i would go to any of the main cities and stuff but that's just me.
