I like the idea of a signet, and what Rokien is saying goes hand in hand with the warp scrolls(purchased through signet points), outpost warping(purchased through gil) and chamber of passage(Aht Urhgan) staging point deal used in FFXI. They all entailed a means of transportation at the cost of the players points of some sort. It also required you to visit that place first or complete a quest before you could use it. Outside of waiting there is no pressure on players to save thier anima besides running out of it. A signet would also offer another way to purchase the "more desirable items" offered by each grand company. But before you everyone blows up because I used FFXI as an example, I'm just saying that it worked with FFXI and created a feel that you had accomplished something by aquiring all the staging points/teleport crystals and outpost warps. And it wasn't just something handed to you. Also, I don't use airships that much either.

Side note: Seems to me that the real trolls are the people who reply to threads without discussing the point constructively.
