It's really sad & actually bums me out the lack of anything as far as male character models. No good beards, or really facial hair at all- no buldges, let's be honest- a buldge isn't obscene, no more than what the 2B panties already show. No type of body hair. It makes me wonder why have male characters at all if any good feature goes to female characters. I say this with a sarcastic tone as well, bc those features are boring & uncreative as well but atleast we have them.

How, HOW could our characters butts get any smaller? They're threatening to be concave already!!
There's one thing that really annoys me with yoshiP interviews is that he very often takes questions in bad faith and bases his responses as if the team doesn't have direct control over not making those worst-case-scenarios happen.
"If people push the slider to the max then we HAVE to add high-accuracy physics simulations" Yeah not like we don't currently have a body slider that interacts with armor. Imagine if we had a breast slider? Not only would the robes have to calculate how to fall over the chest but they'd have to react to all that dynamic breast bouncing, and then you have cloth bouncing off of breast bouncing off of breast, an it'll just be a calculation NIGHTMARE!! Not only that but that DAMN restriction that says that when you put a slider in the game you CAN'T make it so that the max value won't cause issues. Darn, such a pickle.
"If people have differently shaped butts then we'll have to edit how they walk" Yeah, like how they had to change the walk cycles when the implemented the 2b outfit. (And am I crazy or do they not edit the walk cycle speed for when you change your height? 'cause I've noticed my character iceskating like crazy at min height)
Honestly it wasn't in this interview, but my favorite excuse was
"We can't have IK in the game because then the servers would HAVE to be as bad as 1.0" ?????? Like he walks it back in the interview, but he then treats it as if MMOs in general aren't suited for that kind of polish. (I know TERA has IK, I just don't wanna go looking for examples) And consider that one of those games with IK has PvE events that look like this and PvP that can look like this, so graphical hubris in terms of the implementation of IK is not the problem.

I think you're either reading too much into it.
He was just making a light hearted point that people want BIGGER butts, not smaller. A smaller butt on these character's wouldn't effect things nearly as much as just making them bigger would as seen with the "2b butt fix" that actually did make you butt even more flat for tops that wouldn't work with the ruffle skirt.
Like yeah, there's a breast slider in that game. It's a system that's already in place, it's baked into the core of gear and glam making. Adding a butt slider? That would require going back and making a system for it and altering the shape and size of thousands of top and leg gears because of the way gear in this game is made. It would be near impossible for them to do as things are right now according to YP. That's why we were given a 2B butt, so that we could have 1 gear with a noticeable difference in butt size as it's default ... and even that has issues like your butt clipping through the saddle of the pig mount an so on.
As for the animation talk I'm not sure what he's getting at ... unless he feels that a butt slider would be something that would allow for something far beyond 2B butt. 2B is a nice start but it's not as big as hips and ass can get on a woman. I mean, yeah, a Pear Shaped woman would prob have to have a slightly altered walk/ run for some races if you want to maintain the "polish" because of how some currently animate. A middie wearing nothing but a swim suit would still clip their hands through their hips if you make em big enough without accounting for it in animations. If that's what he thinks of when he thinks of butt sliders than ... good. Shows they know how lacking their CC is compared to any other mmo that came out in the past 10 years.
Over all? My personal take away from it is that they hear people and know that as things stand RN it's near impossible to do without a massive upgrade to the graphics engine or a stupid amount of work. And a massive upgrade to the graphics engine is something that COULD happen some day if the game keeps going and growing so there's some level of hope for it. They've talked about wanting to do things that would require that upgrade more than once (Like the Viera panel where the woman who designed them+AF gear said she would love to make gear show damage as it gets broken as an example of something that would require a updated graphics engine) so perhaps it's something they want to happen.
He's a liar - talking about changes necessitating alterations in character movements. People have been modding characters into downright enormous sizes in games like Skyrim for going on two decades now without changing anything but the mesh (no skeleton tweaks; no animation reworks). And I'm not arguing that SE should add some ludicrous slider that allows people to make huge characters - but the idea that they'd have to edit character animations because our little catgirls gained 15-20 pounds is RIDICULOUS. That simply isn't logical.
This. About half the female character models in this game look as if they would die in childbirth - no exaggeration. Their hips, thighs, and rear ends just aren't large enough to allow for live birth. They are prepubescent.
I'm not sure whose physical ideal anorexia is, but I'm not a member of the club.

I'm still for the 3 butt compromise. Maybe 4? Would be easier than a slider. And a slider would probably only give varying sizes of the low 2b butt, which is so popular. What if I want a high perky butt?![]()

Because PR exists.
The reasons they give aren't anywhere close to the reason why they can't implement a butt slider, but its a plausible, easy to understand response to anyone who has zero idea on how the backends of 3D modeling and their gear system works, and it makes for much more interesting interview questions than 5 minutes of explaining technical nitty-gritty. Yoshi-P could talk about the exact issues of why a butt slider would be pointless, but half the technical terms he would use would fly over people's heads. Hence why they use generic, vague statements like 'server limitations', talk about worst case scenarios to dissuage the public on it, or simply crack jokes when asked about it.
The reality is, a butt slider would only work when you're running around in small clothes; your butt would return to normal whenever you equipped literally any piece (sides 2B) in the game. There's no hidden body underneath our clothes that our outfits are modelled over - our characters are literally legos (composite of a bunch of different pieces making up our body, hands, legs & arms). Every outfit in the game is 3D sculpted as it needs to be. Any skin thats visible on a piece is modeled into the actual piece itself. Take a look at the Minfillia's piece for example, which supersizes your bust regardless of whether you fall on 0 or 100 of the scale; its because the huge chest is sculpted onto the piece itself.
Same would happen with butts. you could be 0 or 100 on the scale; 99.9% of the gear in the game is sculpted with the base butt, so anytime you equipped anything sides small clothes, your butt would be neutralized back to flat. It's a choice they've done to streamline their gear creation system, so rather than try and explain the technicalities of their system to people that probably won't understand the entire logistics of 3D modelling and coding, they go with generic answers. As much as I dislike having to mention them, even mods showcase this, where someone can equip a piece that's had its chestpillows upgraded to the size of planets, then switch to a vanilla piece and then their bust goes back down to normal.
With their system, items like Minfillia's top and 2B's bottosm are the only way we'll see augmentation of our assets outside of the norm; its best to request they work on more of those and put this booty slider talk to rest since it ain't happening, due to it requiring a literal overhaul of their entire 3D modelling and gear system.

I don't know about Minfillia's dress, but a large portion of chest gear in the game does in fact change with bust size. I've checked. And I think you are missing the point. He is saying that if butt size were an option they would be obligated to make sure that gear reflected that as well.
