I really wonder where it's been coming from. Is there another MMO out there that handles tanking in this way? Are people reading "increases enmity" as a bad thing? Is some sort of misinformation being spread about how to use tank stances? I don't really get it.
not that i know off. I have heard that some tanks in wow dont bother use it because they have that high dps it doesn't matter. it also could be that they have that mindset to turn off the stand for more dps like it was back in the day
The seas continue to rise while the lesser moon continues to fall, and ilm by ilm, the world becomes ever more unlike itself, without the illumination of knowledge, we but vainly flail as specters in the dark.
Finally got annoyed enough by a dps running ahead to pull mobs when the healer, other dps and I were low leveled that I said to myself "i don't have to stick around for this" and left.
Normally I wouldn't care but if you purposefully pop sprint to go after I ask you politely to slow down because I am struggling with aggro and the healer is struggling to heal then thats a you problem.
Long as you turn on your tank stance and hit every enemy (usually using your AoE abilities like Total Eclipse/Overpower/etc) you literally can't have "aggro problems" in XIV anymore. Finally got annoyed enough by a dps running ahead to pull mobs when the healer, other dps and I were low leveled that I said to myself "i don't have to stick around for this" and left.

Tank stance is a 10× enmity multiplier which means a dps would need to be doing 10× as much damage as you (which is impossible as long as you're pressing buttons) in order to rip off of you.
Not defending anyone ignoring you, just explaining since you're talking about having a problem that functionally can't exist.
Aggro management is more than just number crunching enmity values. If a dps runs ahead and pulls they will often do it by hitting a single mob and the rest of the pack has a good chance of heading straight for the healer or even the other dps and suddenly you'e got a chaotic spread of mobs to deal with. Not saying this happens all the time, but the chance of a chaotic pull goes up significantly when it's not the tank doing the pulling.
Expert roulette. Cosmos. I'm healing.
Zone in, one dps instantly DC's. Tank walks forward until mobs aggro him, at which he mashes a 4 line macro that's in a mishmash of several languages (I recognized german and dutch in there, some of it was apparently cyrilic), and sprints to the wall.
Repeat with the next pull. (Completely different macro, same weird combo of languages)
We havent been out of combat long enough for the tank to kick the DC dps, so we end up 3 manning the boss.
2nd dps dips instantly on its death.
Tank repeats his walk forward then sprint + macro (a new one every time) on the two trash packs, which we very slowly duo, because his damage is awful, and outside of his cooldowns, I cant do a ton of damage since his hp is pingponging like crazy.
Get to 2nd boss and he dc's as soon as the dc'd dps logs back in.
We get a replacement dps in as I'm now the group leader, and have to wait out the roll timer on chest loot before we can kick him, get a tank and get this over with already.
Dps who dc'd dc's AGAIN during this time, and then during the 3rd boss.
Weirdest group ever.
Easy enough to handle, but can get extremely annoying if they start running away from you, or never run towards you. Still I don't know how that person was "struggling" even if that was the case.Aggro management is more than just number crunching enmity values. I have to wonder, because pre-Shadowbringers that *was* a way to play some tanks, in a sense, though usually they'd switch into their DPS stance. No way of telling if they were an old tank unused to the changes, though.
Turn your stance on(make sure it's on) and AOE twice. Once is not enough. Finally got annoyed enough by a dps running ahead to pull mobs when the healer, other dps and I were low leveled that I said to myself "i don't have to stick around for this" and left.
