I don't think there's any hidden messages in regards to the missing genders. The backlash in response to the lack of male viera and female hrothgar proved to be immense and I doubt the development team would want to risk any further bad press by effectively gas-lighting the community.

They've already released a statement that makes it clear that they might be added at some point in the future but that they also may not be added. That's enough for now, since if they are going to be added it isn't likely to be until 6.0 at the earliest because additional playable races are an excellent selling point for a new expansion. I don't think they'll be locked behind 6.0 itself - especially with female viera and male hrothgar being tied to 5.0. It's more a matter the missing genders will play a large part in 6.0's marketing efforts if they are added at that point.

I agree with the aging part. The fresh and shiny factor by nature is going to wear off if they just present 2 new jobs and some new locations. I really don't think they can get away with what they got away with with Stormblood where the fanfests and the premise of the next expansion was basically sam, rdm and some new areas.

World of Warcraft's premise in their next expansion is system wide changes to character creator and whole bunch of other system changes and additions; that's what sells expansions. I'd really hate to see interest go down with the next expansion; adding the missing genders is that perfect ingredient to make the next expansion seem full of great new things.
As for your point about the gas lighting, yeah, but why add an "unlucky bunny" minion and then a bunny costume? It just seems really ominous, like a well prepared joke that Yoshida will use at fanfest when people say "we want male viera" he'll just go "but you can be male viera right now.....with the Rabbit costume we gave you."

I don't know, looking at the female Viera and male Hrothgar hair situation (forget helmets and hats); just the hair situation alone makes me think this dev team is running at barebones capacity until FFVII Remake is complete.

In my most optimistic thinking, the reason we have not seen an update on the Veria/ Hrothgar hair situation, is that their working on it along side the new genders so when (if) they come everything we be fully fleshed out.

They have not provided an update because there is nothing more they want or need to say, at least for the moment. The world also got turned upside down over the last few months, so they may need a minute to get themselves together if they have such plans at all.

Which you might be right about. But that still doesn't change my conspiracy about the Unlucky bunny minion followed by the bunny costume; both put there in preparation for a future live letter where he will go "to address the no male Viera disappointment, I invite you to buy the rabbit costume we introduced last year during Hatching tide 2020, it's now up in the mogstation for $7.99." You know, to lighten the mood in a way; it's an age old PR tactic, splashing together comedy with comfort in the very same sentence. The masses are very easily lead around like sheep, it will send those that didn't care about the missing genders into a frenzy and memes. Like "it's ok baby I'm your male viera"; insert rabbit costume from Hatching tide.

I just don't know how ya'll still cling to male Viera being a possibility in 6.0 when male Hrothgar and female Viera are in the condition they are. They're basically the blue mage of the XIV population, a running limited joke.
As much as I want male Viera, one has to know at what point to realize what's clear, this dev team is at its development limit. Whether FFVII remake is to blame or not, that much is clear.

I mean, then they shouldn't have bothered adding them. Pretty straight forward. Blue isn't an apt comparison though. And Easter themed things for Easter is... not exactly the absolute evidence you're treating it as.
