Hello past me. I'm currently sitting at around 11 million. You can only use one onion at a time so just get one and don't worry about the next until you get the next level (rank, sorry). You'll be done before you know it.There are at least 2 onions you can get from side quests in HW.
Prices on my world were around 200k most of the time. but they did fluctuate and sometimes were as low as 100k. Watch the board.
I've never been up to 11 million. I was hovering around 2 million when my choco was still leveling. It can take several weeks per level, depending on how you play. Like anything in life, it depends on your priorities.

As i sip my morning coffee, this amused me.
Also my chocobo is only rank 8. Im stunned (as a newish player) how long it takes to level up a combat chocobo. Where can i get the free onions from side quests . And how long at the onion required to level does it take to fill the exp bar? My low ranks take me an age
the further along you get in choco buddy rank the more and more the weekly challenge log bonus will be beneficial.
i keep forgetting about the challenge log. I switch up my jobs a lot and level them up when i get a bit burnt out from MSQing ( im currently at the post SB chain when the strange voices are being heard) so i forget to target challenges. I get the easy ones done just by default as they are simple kill x amounts of and they just happen and pop up just by doing my msq. I still have class hunt logs to complete too.
Ill have to target more to get bigger chocobo exp. Thanks for the reminder
Yeah, the weekly challenge log is the only sane way to level up your chocobo past level 10.

Don't fret about how long it takes to level up. It's only of those things where you'll just get there in time as you play. Also my chocobo is only rank 8. One of the quests is "Landing a Stable Job" from the Ishgard marketplace, the other is from Tailfeather after completing some other quests to unlock it.

Rememeber your choco is always your level, which is different from the ranks you are trying to gain (I often make that mistake). As you get higher in level you get more experience, assuming you a killing things closer to your level.Don't fret about how long it takes to level up. It's only of those things where you'll just get there in time as you play.

FATE mobs give you about half the exp as "wild" mobs, but since there is an advantage to grinding FATEs in Shadowbringers that might not be a bad idea.
When Blue Mage first came out your choco would get a huge boost to exp. They nerfed it quickly but I think around 50 as blu was still better than 70 as something else. I don't know about 60 blu vs 80.
Anyway, setting out to level your choco can get boring fast. Just keep your Choco out and alive whenever you can and it will come.

Join an FC?
We give them out for free to anyone who asks.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I just checked and they're going for around 160K on Cerberus. That seems pretty reasonable to me as it isn't a huge amount of gil. If people need tips for making gil, they need only ask and I'm sure many posters will be happy to share tips and advice.

Learn how to grow them, put time into doing so. Grow a ton of them, sell spares, get profit.
Also check other servers on your DC, might not be 500k everywhere.
