My sub 50 gear can be spotty, but I try not to let it get Too bad. Once I hit 50 though I’ve got a full set of augmented ironworks waiting for me.
Firstly, I have a macro that let's the healer know that I'm going to use it soon. My modus operandi is the same, I grab the first pack, and I then use my macro, letting them know I'm gonna use it as a soon as I establish aggro from the next pack.
I got mentored by a WHM. I'm using Superbolide too soon XD.
Why, yes I am! For this particular healer that is, because she knows to hold benediction while typical tank waits til their HP is low enough to get full use of their ults.
Every healer is different though, and there's been some that blows their big heals for no reason. Had an AST use Essential Dignity on me for 768 hp x_x and I was gonna use Superbolide for the next pull, and as you can expect, she temporarily turned into a curebot when I used it. Maybe I shouldn't have used it. In any case the mentor healer gave me something to think about.
She then said using Arm's Length and Reprisal would make me "best dungeon tank", but I used both(Doma Castle) then she says "sorry I missed it".
Moral of the story: Good mentor lol
Moral of the story 2: Moral's revenge: She wasn't a mentor![]()
Dzemael Darkhold.
Dear co-dps,
I don't care if you know the sprout tank from your previous DF encounters or linkshells or whatever. But if you want the tank to pull big, by pulling the mobs yourself all the way to the second purple area, PLEASE also make sure our (first timer) healer is not left behind. Nobody can heal you or the tank if the healer is yalms away from us. While we only wipe once, but you died 3 times for volunteering to be a BLM-tank.
Ok now onto a more uplifting story.
As a healer, my target will always be on the tank.
Today, I accidentally pressed Rescue [F12] instead of Presence of Mind [F8] in E8N and thus yeeted the MT backwards.
The keys are far from each other I don't know how my brain could derp like that. lol
Wouldn't it be more hilarious if the boss about to do Double Slap and I got everyone killed then and there? (no)![]()

I read the tos before i logged in, it doesn't say that. though what you said was snarky, it was basic communication that the healer couldn't keep up, nothing wrong with that. They should have listen.
editing since I hit my post count (new player limitation yay...)
I have a few stories along with 2 Psa:
Psa 1: if you play on the ps4, consider a keyboard wired and wireless keyboards can be pretty cheap, and if taken care of last a long time. The keyboard i use is from my ps2 days of ff11.
psa 2: as a tank try to keep your gear up to date so you are not squishy and hard to heal. Do not large pull if you are not ready for it.
Reason why i say both of these is is due two 3 incidents:
incident 1) sunken temple of qarn, was my first time and said as much. The tank was in mish mash gear iirc and armor was lvl 30 (non hq npc bought) he kept pulling nonstop, not even enough for dps to kill all the mobs. The dudes hp drop faster then i can really cure it, or do much else. He skipped pretty much everything, and wouldnt roll on loot. I did look up the dungeon prior and noticed it had a puzzle element for extra loot. He scoffed saying it wasnt needed and triggered the puzzle added yet more mobs. Group pulled the boss while I was in the cs. I told him he was pretty squish as a tank and was having a hard time healing him. we beat the final boss and dude was smug about getting carried. Like he was proud, and happy there was nothing i could do about it. I very much wanted to B slap this dude.
incident 2) tanked a copperbell run, with a ps4 player playing thm. Dude seem to enjoy running off and doing his own thing, acting like we was NPC. Lucky for me the healer was on my side, and was weirded out by the guy. He was inconsistent in his attack either doing nothing but blizzard, to nothing but fire, to using fire 2 on single targets. I asked my fc about the job and i replayed to him what each skill did. He pretty much ignored everything. I even asked to wait a second, and ask him if he did hall of novice, and suggest he do it, as you get a sweet ring from it. Dude ignored me and pulled mobs, killing himself in the process Dude made the run slower then normal, and i can large pull coppebell mines with no issue.
Incident 3) copper bells as a healer. both dps were ps4 players. Unsure of tank, tank was inconsistent with facing mobs away from the group, sometimes they do sometimes no. we had a archer who used all her skills on all mobs, such as quick knot(sp?) on single target. And our rogue was up the tank booty literally, and would randomly emote the mobs. I let the tank know to face mobs away from the group as one of the mobs was cleaving the rogue. I ask the group if they was new to the dungeon, as we got to the slime boss. (all i can is.. yikes) And let them know the again hall of novice is great, gives decent role tips and great place for starter gear for all ur roles. Group largely ignored me, outside the archer who figured out how to type.
On a more positive note: i had a fun titan run with an fc mate are df group. One of the people told me about landslide, and avoided it. Healing largely was just me putting regen on ppl and using medica once in a while. Im just happy titan was a rock golem, not the flesh toned giant in a banana hammock.
And same fc mate took me through qarn undersized so we can do the dungeon as intended and do the puzzle, on a cute note it was the first time she saw it.
All in all I am enjoying my time in ff14 though. I am weirded out that <poor play> is ignored for sake of fast runs, but im getting used to it. It is a bit of a culture shock to what i was used to in ff11, but im getting used to it.

Hello, nice to meet you!
FF14 player as of: 6/3/2020.
Platform: Ps4
I'm running The Vault as a NIN, two sprouts brand new to the dungeon and a Tank that, like me, has run it before but barely remembers any of the mechanics. This will be fun.
Wipe to the first boss. I don't care, we have two new kids and the Vault is notorious for its difficulty spike. We clear the second time and continue. Then we hit Boss #2. Wipe again, come back for round 2. Tank and I are doing our best to explain mechanics as we remember them mid-fight. second run goes better, until we get to 10% health. Then the Healer goes down. Then the tank. At 8% I pop a LB Because HECK if I'm going to do this fight again. Takes him to 1%. The other DPS has gone down, it's just me.
Tinka used Raiton! It's extremely effective!
I tell you, it felt Really good to bring a lightning bolt down on his head. Feel the SMITE you uppity little...
Surprisingly, we didn't wipe on the last boss. The little sprouts grew soo much! I felt bad for what they were about to experience...
Had a very similar experience doing my weekly Eden runs. On E6N, I was WAR, and almost everyone else was dead, only the other tank was alive as well, with somewhere around 1% HP left on the boss...as the "stack or go flying into the sky" mechanic was happening. The other tank died to it, and I ended up landing, barely alive, and used Infuriate and Inner Chaos to just bring him down with less than 5k HP remaining before we would have wiped.
It might just be me and being a moron but healing on sch feels like so much work. I'm 78 and it really feels like I have to work so hard to keep people from under 50% and heals themselves feel really weak. I might just suck and I'm willing to admit that but I tried white mage until 70 on another character and that felt easy. So is sch that gimped compared to whm or do I just suck? I keep people topped off the best I can while using excog and forcing my crits using recitation on the tank as much as possible. But there's never a moment rest, I'm always healing and I feel bad cause I can barely do much dpsing.. tho to be fair it's only a dot and art of war so maybe it's that way on purpose? I can provide a vid if you need one or you can run with me if you're on my data center. I just feel like I suck at sch. :C
I'm no where near perfect SCH, but I like to think I'm good. So when I say abuse the fairy, abuse them! Use Whispering dawn off cooldown (of course if you don't need heals hold it, but you get the idea.) It's a minute cooldown and heals a ton when let to work on its regen. Indom is amazing quick heal paired with Whispering dawn. Of course shielding before damage helps a lot. If you still find you need healing, Emergency tactics turns your next Succor OR Adlo to double cast and provides alot of healing (helps with big pulls or massive aoe damage). Also since Excog is super usefull on tank, use your recititation for it, yes it gives crit shield (or crit indom), but crit shield goes only so far in pulls, exgoc is more usefull and saves you 3 stacks of aetherflow to use later on for lustrate. SCH needs abit more cooldown management and getting used to what your skills do toget good healing out compared to WHM that has only few buttons and people are full :') Hope this messy explanation helped a little bit?
