The Content Drought and How to Survive it

With patch 5.3 being delayed until mid July there's going to be a lot of people getting bored, frustrated, nitpicky, etc, and these things can have detrimental effects on your FC and in-game social experience. Vandalism, sudden outbursts of political ranting, the "we need to nerf X or buff Y because it's difficult" discussions, will all inevitably pop up during these troubling times.

With that said, these are some recommendations given some prior experiences with this and other MMOs.

1) If you own an FC, limit who can do furniture arrangement in the house and make sure only people you trust can withdraw or add items to the company chest.

2) If you own an FC, keep a tight leash on who can spend FC resources for items like stable brooms. Check the log at least once each night to make sure that no one has ran off with multiple 99 stacks of X or Y.

3) If you are going to keep playing during the slowdown on content, think about what you haven't done in game yet and set a goal. It could be getting the Skysteel gathering tools or going back and doing Omega Savage for Glamour, but keep the content to something that sounds doable. Don't try to delve into current savage content if you never liked that kind of content to begin with.

4) Take advantage of the Moogle Treasure Trove event and keep an eye on the lodestone for new events since we are entering the summer months.

One of the biggest things I can suggest is just to try playing other things, or doing things other than playing games at all. Rather than looking at the dearth of FF14 content as a bad thing, try to look at it as on opportunity to knock some games off your backlist or to try a different game that you hadn't ever tried before. Maybe even spend the time you would usually spend playing FF14 on learning a new skill or developing a new hobby. The biggest issue with FF14 not having any new content right now is really just seeing FF14 as something that has to satisfy your every need for hours and hours every single day.

Right now im at home for about 3-4 weeks, i could have enjoyed that patch but nooo...

I see why they delay it, im slightly annoyed they had such trouble working at home, too... but i really wished they would at least release the Yorha raid, so we can start farming upgrades... or give us the Relic - Imo they shoudvle focused that and give it to us earlier, after all its a very special situation.


Atm i set up everything so far, got my trusty lala to take care of our subs, did most the stuff or need a break from pvp anyways... the most annyoing is i cant farm any more upgrades and capped poetics and the other tome ages ago >_>

Are those people still trying to defund the lalas of uldah, crazy idiots I say they are, if I'm strolling through the steps of thal on my way to the local food vendor and I see some auru trying burn down my market boards or loot the good business men and women of uldah or try to loot the dye shop and tare up the repair vendors then buddy I'm gonna join the brass blades and go outside of uldah on ya by bringing the fist of rhalger strait down on you.

Originally slated for a June 16 release, patch 5.3 will be delayed by more than a month at the very least, but we are pushing to keep that delay as short as possible. We will announce a new release date in the near future, so please stay tuned!

Basically July 21st at the very earliest.

I was worried upon hearing of the 5.3 patch delay, so I called my doctor and thankfully - they said I should be able to survive the content drought in FF14!

It helps that I still find enjoyment in the game.

I started playing through The Witcher trilogy again, hadn't played 3 since 2016, and hadn't played 1 and 2 since 2015, so they are pretty fresh for me. That's like 200+ hours of gameplay.
