Just cause you don't like the way they decorated their house, doesn't mean they somehow don't "deserve" it.They aren't doing anything at all with their house, that's why I am pissed off about it. The house has no vendors, menders, company chest...... nothing. Plus, it's a personal house, which means all that space could most likely be utilized BETTER with a Free Company owning the plot. If he wants to waste the space, I'm sure a S is just as sufficient.
People being at home, means many of them are not able to earn income, which means they'll have a harder time paying their subs. On the flip side, those who are working may have increased hours, and while they have the cash to pay their sub (hopefully) they might not have the free time to log on.A courtesy? I don't get how it's a courtesy. Currently, most of the world has been on LOCKDOWN for at least a month, which means people are HOME. This, I would think, is the time for it to NOT be on lockout. This is when most people would be able to pick up & play, since most jobs have closed up or laid off employees. When people work, they have subs active and maybe log in once a month and to go into their house just to keep it. Do you think folks doing that should be able to keep the house? They never play, just pay, and log in once every 30 days to avoid the auto-demolish :/ Meanwhile, tons of players still active, always seeking open plots daily.
It ain't all about you and yours. Grow some empathy.
I accept that its a matter of taste too, like i keep our large house mostly open and dont make many small rooms, or abuse gliches like crazy, but on some houses you see they only have it either to have it or to sell it.The M plot is owned by an individual who I have NEVER EVER EVER seen on his land, or in his house, or even at the summoning bell. Inside the house (all 3 stories), he has nothing but random beds & baths all over the place. No vendors, no mendors, NOTHING. Just a house full of garbage..
Our fc used to be a small plot at Lavender, at the next MB there was that M house, in years ive never seen anyone there, their garden was always barren, inside was one chest, a bell and thats it. The Fc had 4 members or smt...
Did you see that interview or is it only what someone relayed to you?YoshiP did say at the EU FanFest that they're working on technology that would allow a player in an instanced housing area to be able to see what's happening in a non-instanced area, mentioning being able to see players walking around outside your house from inside the house as an example.
Did they get it to work? We don't know. Nothing has been said since. I doubt he would have mentioned it then if they didn't feel like they were close to having a functional system. But if they do have it working, it's not something I would expect to see added until Ishgard housing is finally released.
If it's the interview I'm thinking of - this is entirely from memory, but the question was whether the door out to the balcony in large houses could be made accessible. He said they couldn't do that because it was instanced and you wouldn't see what was really outside, so you wouldn't see someone out in the garden for example. Then (at least as I remember it) he seemed to have an idea and said maybe there was a way it could work.
Unless there was a follow-up, I wouldn't have taken that at all as "we're working on it". His sudden idea for a solution might not have been at all possible.
They probably DO get noticed by the devs, or rather by the folks who monitor the forums and give feedback to the devs, but what gets noticed is the rudeness of the posters and so the threads are ignored. I know if I monitored the forums, it would be the courteous requests that got passed on, not the ones that insult and disparage the team that created the game.
Having an issue with something does not necessitate rudeness. I agree that instanced housing would be a great solution, but there are ways and means of asking that don't involve screaming and shouting
Go to the FFXIV Twitch channel and find "FFXIV LIVE from the Fan Festival in Paris! Day2". The Eorzean Question Time starts at about 2h56m. It's Foxclon reading the player questions and YoshiP answering with Koji translating. At about 3h44m, the balcony door question came up.Did you see that interview or is it only what someone relayed to you?

Q: Can you implement a way to make the balcony door in our mansions accessible? We can see the door from the inside, we can see the door from the outside but we can't go through it.
Koji's translation of YoshiP's response: We are currently in the test phase of this. However, we talked about this a little earlier. So if you were to exit from the house onto the balcony, you wouldn't be going into that housing area. This is, as we've said before, impossible system side. For example, if I were to go out on the balcony, and at that same time say Koji's character were walking around, system wise it would be impossible to see from my balcony Koji's character walking around. We can't do that but we can figure out a way to fake it and make it seem like that's happening so we are currently working on that system to figure out how to do it. It may take a little bit more time but we are working on it.
So yes, they are working on something even if not quite exactly what I had remembered them saying. It's highly unlikely they would be developing such a system only for the sake of those few players that own the 10% of houses with a balcony door
It would make far more sense if their plan is to utilize it to bring the ward feeling into a new form of instanced housing. It could just be seeing random NPCs walking around like we can currently see in the completed areas of the Firmament from an instanced housing area.
Or perhaps it will be used as part of new apartment options giving players the apartment balcony with a view of the outside that many have requested. They did say a couple of years ago they were discussing expanding apartment options (though not that they had specific plans to implement any at that time).
But something has been in the works. It's a question of if they succeeded and what the actual form will be if so. My hope is we'll see it when Ishgard housing opens.
Crafting stations are useless anyway, they add only like 10 cp? Why would anyone want to use them until they up them, same question goes to wheel stands, they only useful for grade 3 buffs as grade 2 buffs are incredibly cheap to buy... but one stand can only hold 1 grade 3 wheel it it needs to be charged for 70 hours. The only really valuable thing that you get with a large house I think its three garden patches.
@OP: Read the "can we agree this is not cool?" forum where there is a lengthy discussion about dummy FCs. It's more of the same arguments, which shows how things are not progressing.
I think it is time for players to come to terms with the fact a personal plot is not meant for everyone. Also why is it a problem or concern of other players what they do with their home? I own a large plot and it straight up my is empty, I bought just incase I ever wanted to do something with it. That sounds like a you problem and nothing short of making instances houses would solve that, but even instance houses but for whatever reason we have not gotten them now as such I doubt we ever will.
