And again to be fair... the same can be said about things not being put into the game. It really does go both ways. But I think we're kindof on the same page... as all of this is a huge IF like you said. I'm not really for or against it. I'm just trying to be balanced. You can go back and find the posts if you want, but it was definitely conceded that it would be a source of possible targeting by both sides.
IF it's put in, super huge IF, the people who don't want it will just have to put up with it as many others have done with other features and items they didn't want in. This is how things seem to work. While making everyone happy would be nice, that's just not possible with a feature like this.
All it says is that there is quite a bit of discussion about it. It's also a LOT of the same people posting. However I can see the same pattern repeating over and over again. Assuming something won't be implemented just because there's people against it will disappoint you quite a bit. Even with outcry there have been many things SE has simply done and left.

No argument. Both are true. Which is why the argument people bring forward "just ignore it" is silly.
what I'm saying is arguing that the feature requires compromise so much as to be made useless is worthless input.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
Voluntarily associate? No. But imagine a group of people dead set on "punishing" those who aren't allowing them to "express themselves". Reports, kicks, etc etc.
Not so much a non issue. People already have given me grief just for sporting the "crown" so this isn't pure speculation.

Just a quick notice.
To be seen is not to be remembered or considered. People care a bit too much how other people see them and in real life it is worst, what you think is "cool looking" can just be... ugly for others.
So... the way you look is for you, mainly and mostly because you absolutly have no control about others tastes. You will not, you will never change their tastes. Their tastes can evolve but NEVER you will change theirs.
If you don't want people use a "default" look as for example, the job AF, maybe it is because you have the false belief you can change others tastes. It will never happen.
Tastes are related to personal aethetics, not some kind of beliefs. I purposely don't consider religious tastes since it is not taste it is some kind of moral matters (that can be in full contradiction with personal tastes, aka private life <> public life/rules).

People report and kick you for wearing a mentor icon? Sounds like you need to blacklist and report them for harassing you. A bunch of narcissists don't have the power to choose which game setting people use.Voluntarily associate? That said, it's unlikely that the devs would implement an icon whose only purpose is to give people something to be offended about. People can already turn off character sounds, Perform music, spell effects, character names, titles and written chat. If someone doesn't like it, there is nothing that person can do about it and that person has no way to find out who is doing it. Glamour filter is just another way to ignore someone and would likely be treated the same as the rest of them, a personal setting without any icons.

How do you read report and kick from "giving me grief"? Curious.People report and kick you for wearing a mentor icon? Sounds like you need to blacklist and report them for harassing you. A bunch of narcissists don't have the power to choose which game setting people use.

Exactly.. so why did you call it a non issue? The argument I was making was that a visual indication of use would have far to many negative applications.People report and kick you for wearing a mentor icon? Exactly... what? I wasn't agreeing with you. People who get offended over nothing are a non-issue which can easily be dealt with. I would not care if an icon was implemented, but it's not likely to be implemented.

A group of people getting offended can be a group of people targeting you for harassment or worse. While sure you can eventually report them it'll still cost time and maybe a ban on your record (valid or not, considering the track record of the ban system I don't know if it'd be a perma-strike for you or not).
So non-issue it isn't. Having a marker would be a problem.

Mentors are not being banned for false reasons left and right even though plenty of people are offended over the icon existing. You are giving these harassers too much credit. In reality, they are just as invisible and powerless in game as they are in real life.A group of people getting offended can be a group of people targeting you for harassment or worse.
