My favorite is when someone massively undercuts something that actually has expensive or annoying to get mats, or is just annoying to get period, so everyone just loses a ton of money because reasons.

Also somebody on my server has been posting a lot of materia for literal vendor price when the market price is like 20-30k per materia and I have to kinda sit there and be like bro do you just hate making money or what? Maybe it's a weird roundabout giveaway idk lmfao

It's important to remember markets are volatile. If an item is 150k, someone undercuts you by 50k and two others follow suit at 99k, it does not mean that market is now ruined and you're forced to undercut below 99k. Chances are if that item is useful and has a sale history around the 150k mark, it'll be back to 150k within a few days or the end of the week worst case. If you don't want immediate gil or need the retainer sale slot, sit at 150k and wait it out.

If the item permanently crashes, supply outweighed demand and the lower price is basically the new price now and what it's worth. One random person listing one item cheap cannot destroy an entire thriving market. It's a temporary bump.

Thats a shame i thought but undercut his price anyway. his next undercut was 20k
gil, and then 10k. - By that time, i wanted him to realize what he was doing,
so i undercut him with 1gil on one ring and with 10k on the other ring.

Some hours went by and other sellers had lowered their prices also.

8 hours later he was gone and the prices were around 80k gil, and i checked the
price history and saw he had sold for 50k gil.

Then i raised my price back to 168k gil and went to bed.

    - I mean, what is this kind of sorcery? If he had undercut that diligently
but instead with 1 or 10 or 100 gil he would have sold anyway and be 100k
    richer.

Am i missing something or did he do very wrong?
I will be honest. If I want to move the product really fast and it's not going to be loss to me, I will undercut. Especially on very common items/mats.

I loved running across those rare purchases of really expensive items where it sold for like....1 g, or something insanely low. I never managed to get one of those myself, but was still always amusing to see. Good times!

So people get annoyed and just mass undercut. I go the boards a few times a day. if someone undercuts me once I undercut them alittle. They do it again I drop the price 20-25% and usually say screw it and go to sleep for the night.

Having some money and not being tied to the retainer bell is better then wasting 45mins changing prices and making alittle bit more in my opinion.

This is more or less my tactic too, although I don't tend to check prices for a few days at a time. If I have to adjust the price more than 2-3 times, I'm going to start dropping things like crazy. I have a fairly decent stash of gil and so it's not like I really neeeed more of it at this point. I'm also just far too lazy to want to babysit my sales that much. :X

Funny because I made a similar comment about bots on the MB and people jumped all over me saying it doesn't happen. Pretty pathetic when people don't think bots work the MB in this game.

I for the most part just gave up on the MB. I make money just by doing things in the game and it slowly builds up over time. Crafting doesn't make money anymore beyond that first 1-2 weeks after new gear comes out.

Also SE won't ban gathering bots so there is very little money in selling mats. I have been reporting 2 max level gather bots for over 2 years now and they are still going strong. They gather all the Aetherial Reduction nodes and sell the sands and crystals/clusters.

Undercut me for 1 Gil? I'll undercut you for 10,000 Gil and keep on doing it.
When you and a few hundred others do this it plummets the prices very quickly to the point that you're losing money. That's not really how capitalism works because a company won't sell products below what it cost to make them. You will quickly go out of business.

I don't know if this is true on all worlds. But on mine it certainly is.

Despite having all my DoL and DoH maxed and melded I always 'craft' end game gear by making and selling other things, selling those, then buying the latest and greatest from other crafters.

Seriously, people pay waaaaay to much for 0-70 junk for which the materials are as cheep and easy as the craft time is short. It only takes a couple of easy and cheep crafts to cover the cost of an endgame piece that has two or three times the material requirements.

way i see, i always match the price of the 2nd highest seller on the list, so it doesn't challenge the top seller and keeps the price usually at a similar amount if not a little bit lower ^^

And I'll laugh and keep undercutting by 1 gil until you get to half my current price, buy yours, and resell it at my price to make a profit. You lose, I win.
