I wish the Market Board was like the Auction House in FFXI, all you can see is how much the last purchase cost, you guess from there and then you BID on that item. so it's like guessing how much you want to buy an item for. better than xiv mb

Welcome to capitalism.
Besides, that's something I do when people try to sell things cheaper than me.
Undercut me for 1 Gil? I'll undercut you for 10,000 Gil and keep on doing it.

When you and a few hundred others do this it plummets the prices very quickly to the point that you're losing money. That's not really how capitalism works because a company won't sell products below what it cost to make them. You will quickly go out of business.
And I'll laugh and keep undercutting by 1 gil until you get to half my current price, buy yours, and resell it at my price to make a profit. You lose, I win.

Pretty much this.
What people fail to understand is that I sell cheap af for the simple fact I have more of the same thing I'm selling. So unless they buy my whole supplies and then sell it again, they won't be making a profit. Meanwhile, me being an omnigatherer and crafter makes it cheap and easy for me to keep making new stuff to, once again, keep selling.
Unless of course is stuff that my retainers bring to me and I don't want, so I just throw it for dirt cheap.

If you're cutting for spite, I can understand that. It's petty, but I do get it. However, its an exercise in futility if someone undercuts you by one gil, and you turn and keep undercutting by 10k each and every time in an attempt sale yours first. All you're doing is cutting yourself short. The buyer is going to buy the cheapest available whether its 1 or a million, and another competitor can come by and undercut you anyway.
If you want to sale first, grab a tent and some provisions. You're going to be camping a summoning bell just like your competitors.

Wasnt undercut proof, but that market was a real beast.
I loved running across those rare purchases of really expensive items where it sold for like....1 g, or something insanely low. I never managed to get one of those myself, but was still always amusing to see. Good times!
People do not like to camp their retainers and change prices 1000 times in a few hours.
So people get annoyed and just mass undercut. I go the boards a few times a day. if someone undercuts me once I undercut them alittle. They do it again I drop the price 20-25% and usually say screw it and go to sleep for the night.
Having some money and not being tied to the retainer bell is better then wasting 45mins changing prices and making alittle bit more in my opinion.
This is more or less my tactic too, although I don't tend to check prices for a few days at a time. If I have to adjust the price more than 2-3 times, I'm going to start dropping things like crazy. I have a fairly decent stash of gil and so it's not like I really neeeed more of it at this point. I'm also just far too lazy to want to babysit my sales that much. :X

I was there for Raise III. Remember that? BCNM60 I think it came from. No one never bothered to 1g that one. Infact I think it still reached the highest price(4mil) for a spell drop..(for those that never played, the totally casual player can make 4mil in 4months from doing FFXIV dailies. FFXI..that same person might need 2 years LOL).
Ah yes, Refresh is another one too. Oh wow I feel spoiled by FFXIV now. Lets bw glad we dont have to buy spells/get them as drops. That was a market nightmare.
