I have to agree with the OP, though. I was expecting something much more in-depth. I liked Eureka. It had flaws but they were refined over time

I second this, I was surprised to be rewarded with the weapon immediately and expected a grind of some sort. Being rewarded with it immediately feels..really weird. I was looking forward to this patch, then played through an instance and watched a few cutscenes and was given my weapon. Now we...wait for 5.35 I guess? I expected to spend a week doing some new kind of content to earn this.

I was quite surprised at how fast the quest went. I was happy I was able to do it solo and I hope in the future that will be possible as I enjoy that more these days.

Eureka was a bit messy but I enjoyed it for the most part. I enjoyed the quest though but it was too short.

Locking catch-up gear like the new coffers behind an extreme trial is kinda wack.

Dont think its catch-up gear, because the catch-up gear is already 480 and easier to get (Eden normal). At this point people got their classes all decked out in 480 and 490 anyway, or close to. I think its basically just a looks-item.

Some content is simply so bare bones that it can't be stretched out over time.

I recently purchased two other games. Resident Evil 3 and Persona 5 Royal. Even taking my time and exploring every corner I finished Resident Evil 3 in just under six hours. Persona 5 Royal, however, clocks in at just over twelve hours and I have only just finished the first dungeon.

I think far too much of FFXIV's recent content has lacked staying power and doesn't really reach its full potential as a result. Even the latest seasonal event was split into two parts despite being no longer than the others.

Ultimately the lack of a solid rival MMO is hurting FFXIV quite a bit, I fear.

If it's 480 it's still a form of catch-up gear. Either way, I'm just kind of observing that it's *plain odd* because I can't think of examples of them putting armour behind an EX trial before.

So we are getting less dungeons, for...that? Eureka was a a lot to sink in despite its MANY many issues that would eventually get a lot worse with Pagos and bitter sweet with Lagos and Hydatos. Did Bernie Sanders help develop this content? Ilvl485 weapons 5 slots for ....nothing? Everyone who doesn’t have EdenChoir gear will have it, no one will guy crafted weapons anymore. Where’s the meat? Where’s the exploration content? This will not sit will with the community despite the freebie

Didn't touch Eureka past an hour because it was immediately uninteresting and off-putting, and quit the game for a while before it apparently improved, but was side eyeing the first step of the HW relic a bit
But yeah, wasn't expecting it to be that easy. Will be interesting to play through later I suppose.

Anemos was your Relic, a dyable 5 slot version of the artifact set, your weekly tome cap, multiple minions and glam, silly amounts of materia and a T Rex mount all contained within a large dangerous open zone.

It was flawed, but they put a lot of work into fixing it up over Pyros and Hydatos, only to throw it all away for ...this? I'm baffled.

I assume this content was created months in advance, but they must be kicking themselves with the entire population isolated at home and looking for things to do and all they have to offer is a few hours content for the next few months.
