In this scenario, you'll buy the 10 at 999 anyway. So just sell cheaper and you'll get the sale. Otherwise sell something else.

I have done this once or twice without botting.
It's not something I could do for extended periods of time but a small monopoly here and there doesn't necessitate botting.

well I have never seen any item on marketboard which was made by 1 person and it took all the space from it.
I also do this from time-to-time, not saying that people do not bot, but it is not that uncommon of an occurence. Granted at times especially in NN people do complain and generally assume foul play which is just a general problem within the community.
I don't see how having multiple retainers is abusing the market. You're putting all your eggs in 1 basket and removing yourself from other markets as a result.
Buy them out if you think the items are too underpriced.
Otherwise your complaint really is "people are selling items too cheap for my liking"

It's a player driven market and this is perfectly acceptable behaviour. If you don't like it, that's just tough isn't it?

Unless I am misreading the OP isn't the complaint more interface related? His only choice is to sell lower because the board only shows a hundred. It is not a price thing. He may be happy to sell higher in a smaller amount and not even worry about the other players price. Buying up all the stock to break it up and sell higher would be a massive undertaking when you just want to sell 1 ingot for 1k when someone has a 100 stacks for 500gil.

What's so hard about just selling the 1 ingot for 499? You'll outcompete the monopoly.Unless I am misreading the OP isn't the complaint more interface related?
