By the very definition of the word this request for the feature is PETTY!!!!!! particularly the 1st 2 points

-it's a petty grievance since you can avoid it already and it is fictional clothing that has no real world bearing like at all.
- again no bearing on real world most of you wouldn't care if not added to the game ergo a petty concern at best.

You have to take context into consideration when applying the definition. The bar for "importance" is pretty low in a video game forum context, who gets to decide when something can be considered important here?

I personally don't find this topic to be particularly significant, but there sure are a bunch of other threads here that I consider of (way) less importance, thus I don't see this topic as "petty" in the context of these forums.

It's an option that has been asked for, either you would use it or not. You fully control if it affects you or not. We aren't talking foreign or monetary policy here...

I support this too, have all player characters naked, just like Shiva Savage where there's just a bulb of light around their private parts.

If it's just removing glamour then I don't think it will serve the purpose for those who want to use the feature.
- Some people use the dress or frog suit directly instead of glamouring them over other gears.
- Removing the frog suit to reveal a mess of a combination of actual gears will still make the character look ridiculous.

It also won't work if the feature also remove the item that is put on directly.
- Removing a bikini from characters who use bikini directly will just put those characters in their underwear which is basically the same thing.

Regarding the gear examination, unless the character is a male roe like mine, I think you still need to examine them to see their gear (especially it it's a lala). Not to mention most people probably don't remember the name of every gear just by looking at them.

The main problem isn't the people that are wearing the frog suite/dress directly (ie not glamoured). Those people are probably in town so you can just avoid them. You don't have to interact with them. Not to mention the people directly wearing items are relatively rare. Allowing just hide glamours, also gives a way to the people who really want to force other people to see them in X outfit the ability to do so.

However when you're doing a duty you see people in ridiculus outfits, the immersion breaking increases dramatically. I can sort of understand seeing someone in a silly outfit in town (maybe he's trying to make the children laugh or something). But in a dungeon where you're supposed to be fighting with your life against the odds it doesn't feel appropriate (What is he trying to make the boss die from laughter or something?).

This can be especially annoying when those duties/dungeons are tied with climactic points of the story (like the 8-man boss after the end of each expansion). Getting into hades for first time and seeing a person metallic green chocobo suit, a person in a swimsuit and a person in a wedding dress/suit can be really offputing.

I support this option! Because more options the better. If you want to play a certain way you should be supported. Especially since it will not effect anyone but yourself. I am not sure why there are nay sayers.

Some people were able to advocate and get different styles of dress regardless of sex/gender. If you are not limited why would you want to impose limitations on others? Glamour options for me but not for thee? So not cool support everyone to have a choice please.

To be fair, those people could've been doing their part time job as chocobo racing mascot, on vacation at the beach, and at their very wedding on the moment the Exarch summoned them. He does have a record of being bad at summoning :P

It's not that the costumes cannot be explained in-universe, it's that it really breaks the tension and mood when the dramatic reveal of the 7 other warriors of light happens and someone is standing there in a wonky outfit. Anyone with a reasonable imagination could excuse weird outfits, but it's a matter of HAVING to.
