I guarantee you that more people would've been upset for being punished about not doing the event on Day 1.The idea was great on paper, but not so great with its execution. I don't think it should have been postponed for so long. Maybe day 2 of the event would have been better. To be honest, it was only because of the forums that I decided to log in and finish because I simply didn't know about the vote. I've been on an extended break so I've mostly just been logging in and out every couple weeks. But still, I think it could have been handled a bit better.
I agree that it's always good that these events leave time for players to do the quests at their own pace. I've been playing the game for almost 5 years now, and I've never ever done an event as soon as it started (not day 1, or day 2, or even 1 week after sometimes). I understand the way they designed the event with 1 week for votes and 1 week for the follow-up, and I think it makes perfect sense. However, I personally consider the follow-up part as way less important than the first part (it had no rewards to offer, after all), which is why I think it might've been a better idea to tie up the achievement to the first part instead of the second one.
