I'm about as typical a career MMO healer as you can get I guess. I was more flexible in FFXI, raiding primarily as a Bard, with a caster sideline of WHM, BLM or SCH when needed and I did do a strange stint in WoW as a Tank, but otherwise, from Everquest (Unless anatomy in UO counts?) to FFXIV, I've exclusively healed.
And in honesty, it's rare that I feel properly jaded about my group, as long as people are making a fair effort, I'm not really bothered about how good or bad things are. Thus most duties don't really bother me no matter how bad they get. 24 man can get a bit frustrating though, as you see a lot more freeloading there. Poking and standing on their corpses is usually entertaining enough
Above all, I love the role and it just suits my play style. I'm pretty awful at timing and maintaining CDs, but adapting on the fly and playing reactively is far more my thing. And just think, my group has me playing SCH this tier. Whoops.
this is really off topic, but how do you know when to Esuna team mates in XI? do you just look at the text screen? and how so you manage let's say your doing Dynamics and some party members have status effects and the tank is being hit?

hopefully when I learn how to gearswap properly, I would like to try get good and maybe get a party
Dispellable debuffs have a white bar over their icons.
Its not a matter of mental health, as much as a matter of growing bitter. To resent your fellow player because they get to have fun in their roles and we healers dont.
I still get good laughs with my static but I don't have fun mechanically as a healer. Going double AST has alleviated that a bit, coordinating cards and and divinations has turned out to be quite a refreshing experience, even if those mechanics feel boring by themselves.

I think having two healers and the option to dps really adds fuel to the fire. As a tank you can sometimes feel that your co-tank might not be optimal but its never as bad as when your co-healer is just a dps in disguise.
If your cohealer decides to just DPS the whole time, you get to solo heal, which at least stretches your healing kit a bit more.
If your cohealer decides to spam Medica II/Succor/Asp. Helios every other GCD, you will be stuck casting your one nuke and one DoT for the entire 10+ minutes fight.
Unless you want to intentionally gimp your team by overhealing.
No other role has this issue, because other roles get more and more interesting to play at higher skill levels.
Healers just get to bump nuke spam from 50% of the fight to 70%.

No Grim, there are people having fun playing healers. Just because they arent vocal on this forum doesn't mean they don't exist. You are the one who's being bitter and resentful because you dont find it fun to heal. That tells me that you need to find fun elsewhere and to stop making yourself miserable. I'm glad to hear you're finding ways to make it bearable but at the end of the day you're the one who's being bitter and resentful and that's never good for ones mental well being to be like that. Its not a matter of mental health, as much as a matter of growing bitter. Ofc you are clearly not the only person feeling this way judging by the reactions throughout this sub forum. But that doesn't mean you and other's negative opinions are the only opinions. Ultimately all of yall are not having fun with a game and either need to find fun within this game or if it comes down to it, find something else to play.
As far as I'm aware, these forums are the place for us to give feedback to SE regarding healers, to raise concerns over playstyle and balance. No Grim, there are people having fun playing healers. Telling everyone who has complains "If you don't like it play something else" defeats the whole purpose of giving feedback.
You could literally remove all healer skills and replace them with a one-button-wonder (think Assize with zero cooldown, and nothing else),
and still have the "If you don't like it play something else" rhetoric because at least one person somewhere likes that gameplay.

That's one thing to post feedback, but this isnt a feedback post so much as OP wallowing in his misery. As far as I'm aware, these forums are the place for us to give feedback to SE regarding healers, to raise concerns over playstyle and balance.

And yes. If your displeasure in a games design is actively making you say things like "Healing is a State of Pernament Hatred." Then you absolutely need to take a breath and reevaluate your anger over what's ultimately just supposed to be a game. You can be all like "Hey it would be cool if sch had its dots back and ast had the old cards" and so on, but to actively Express bile and vitriol over other players because you arent having fun is too far.

The idea that one person doesn't like something doesn't mean that everyone else doesn't like that something is easily reversed: just because someone likes something doesn't meant that everyone else likes it.
If you like it, great.
If you don't, that's not so great, but the point of view is just as valid. I would assume that a game developer would actually want people to play their game, so feedback as to why someone doesn't like a part of the game is just as important (maybe more so) as receiving feedback as to why someone likes a part of the game.
It might be too emotional for your tastes, but if someone is expressing this much distaste for a game, it would be in the developer's best interests to hear more about it and figure out if there's something to improve over it. So this is, very much, valid feedback.
