If someone has a problem with thongs and what not, but are ok with murder. I really have a hard time with supporting said person. I mean did you protest when the storyline talked about forcing yourself on women? Did you get offended when it comes up a few times? I just want to call people out on this. Finding something displeasing to look at is not the end of the world, and taking away what I want you to see me as is and never should be an option because that is not what I want people to have.

The storyline you've mentioned is SUPPOSED to disgust you and shock you. Dude in the thong and the moogle head? Probably thinks he looks awesome and that it's hilarious. I have emotional reactions when I am say forced to kill someone who's become something horrid but was a good person before, that's part of the story. You know what isn't? Moogle head guy.

And of course I respect that you have likes and dislikes, so we'll chalk you up for a "No, because I don't want it". Generally it's more compelling of an argument to have logical backing behind a dislike though rather than just emotions.

I agree with what you are saying and it is a good read, that is why I don't try and stand on a moral high ground when I say no I don't want people to have this option.


I don't want players to have the option to pick what I look like to them. It is that simple, I need no reason, I need nothing to stand behind said statement. Someone being offended by an outfit does not give people more of a reason why it should be added to the game.

I mean I think it's kinda thin skinned to kick someone out of a group for their glam if they're otherwise performing well, but that's your right if you really want to.

Yikes, way to miss the point. Lots of strawman here, by comparing showing skin to showing murder. This isn't about sensitivity or censorship. It's about a player's right to an immersive experience on the client side (so harmless to anyone else).

Yes it barely matters to me, especially when it comes to values. Would just be a nice feature to have that would potentially increase my entertainment playing this game. That's what's important in this game: entertainment, not values. Unless the resources needed to implement this option would hinder other developments, this optional client-side feature wouldn't decrease anyone's enjoyment of the game while it would increase enjoyment for the ones that wish to use it.

Everything I do is influenced by my values and how well I do, or do not, live up to them. I find it strange (and even unsettling) when people suggest that it is no big deal to separate your values from anything you do in your life. Maybe it's a flaw that I do not compartmentalize that way. Maybe it's how I express integrity.

If I knew there is was feature that allows other player to have even that small level of control of my character, and my expression through my "entertainment" would decrease my enjoyment of the game. There are other's that I am sure would feel the same. So, you are wrong there.

Its fine to be influenced by your values, and that is a great thing to have. However you cross a line when you use your own personal values to impose on and override someone elses values, which is what you are doing by being angry at this request. And no, you can't claim the opposite is also true because this request is a client side request, meaning it doesn't affect anyone except the user of the feature.

It does not affect you unless you start imposing your values onto the user of the feature, thus overriding their own values.
