So if I, as a man IRL, decide to wear a thong with my junk nearly hanging out, and forcing you to look at it, it's all good right? That's just my self-expression. In a dungeon or similar fights, you are basically forced to look upon the person in the obnoxious clothing.
We can mute performances already good or bad. you can turn off chat and emotes, thus turning off any sort of communication with other players. if I can turn off listening to other players, why cant we turn off being able to see what they display?

*Stares at OP's main's lodestone, where they're currently wearing a cutesy, yellow dress and Krile's hood as a PLD*
*sees they're part of what appears to be a glamour-based FC*
Something smells fishy here... >x>

I like the spirit of the idea, but given that theres maybe one tank set an expansion that actually looks like a tank set, this probably wouldnt have the desired effect anyway.
Ironically, Yoshi-P specifically mentioned a story about a woman shielding her child's eyes from a young man in a seifuku as one of the pivotal moments in his decision to unlock glam. To think that he would allow us to turn off other people's outfits because it harms your delicate sensibilities. lol
I'm pretty sure that hiding glams will never, ever be an option and I'm glad for it even tho I also hate frog costumes. Variety is the spice of life.
He's also on record as acknowledging that the game has a global audience and that there are many different cultural elements and established laws to consider when adding such things to the game in the first place. This particular suggestion doesn't strike me as something that would 'never, ever' be an option with that in mind - because the development team is interested in appealing to a broad range of players, not just a select few.Ironically, Yoshi-P specifically mentioned a story about a woman shielding her child's eyes from a young man in a seifuku as one of the pivotal moments in his decision to unlock glam. Well I like making cool glamours and having everyone see them. And yes having a feature would upset my fun factor. Sadly yours nor mine get to be the win all be all. MMORPGs are just what they are abbreviated as such, Massive Multiplayer Online "Role Playing" Game. That Is what FF14 is. I imagine you knew this coming in. Therefor you have to deal with the good and the bad of an MMORPG. You are of the stance that some glams ruin your experience correct? Well I am of the stance that the glamour that I worked hard for that portrays what I want my character to be seen as being blocked thus ruins my immersion knowing that.
I can't say I'd ever use the option myself but that's mostly because enabling would likely be more work than I would find worth it. Sure, I do find the frog suits and chocobo heads stupid and completely out of place and annoying but I don't recall ever being stuck looking at them so long that I really cared enough to turn them off. I mean, I don't really jive with the Limsa atherytre crowd in general but to alleviate that I just don't spend more time there than I have to. No dev time or resources needed for that.
The addition of features such as Trusts strongly erodes the 'It's an MMO' argument. Plenty of players go through the game these days doing their own thing and avoid player interaction where possible. By your logic, Trusts should never have been added to the game.Well I like making cool glamours and having everyone see them. And yes having a feature would upset my fun factor. Should the OP's suggestion be implemented into the game itself there would be some players who made use of it and others who do not - so you wouldn't be missing out at all. You'd still have the potential for people to admire your glamour (assuming they even noticed it in the first place).
Ultimately, it's a matter of compromising. Which is exactly what led to Trusts being added to the game.
I am of the stance of live and let live. To me, you are going against that stance by stating people absolutely have to see your glamour and you are opposed to them having any choice to the contrary.Well I like making cool glamours and having everyone see them.
