This does seem like overkill. Disabling the system for everyone is certainly the quickest and easiest solution, but it's also hurts the average player a lot more than it hurts the tiny fraction of people actually abusing the system.

The average player probably sets more markers during combat than ahead of time. If I'm in a random dungeon, alliance raid, whatever I probably won't realize that markers are even necessary until part way through a fight (few people speak up about not knowing mechanics beforehand.) Not being able to set a marker mid-fight hurts regular players more than the cheaters. I'd rather they take the time to break the app rather than let a tiny handful of people ruin it for everyone.

This is a very specific circumstance he's talking about. A parser is READ data which is less what he's talking about.

He's talking about plugins that do client injections like the Waymark and pre-telegraphing AOEs.

Not really that much. Oop cant move markers once combat starts.. yea okay because thats the most common thing in the world.. its not. And if in the hardcore content where this is going to be most prevalent this change means people cant clear any more thats more reflective of the players then the system.
Common enough in high end play to be a issue.

T9 (remember blu likes sync'd) divebombs are randomised upon casting favour of bahamut has become vastly more annoying. Basically anything mid fight that has a random chance to be any number of patterns requires a lot more memorization if safe spot is also completely random.

Progging will get slightly more annoying as you could mark where a new mechanic would come from to see if there is a pattern now you can't from 5.2. (Flucks can happen and identifying how is key sometimes)

Adjustments afterwards if someone places them incorrectly can lead to a wipe that didn't need to happen.

And if removal is still allowed mid fight, then 24 mans become way more 'fun' with group placements.

This is one of those they needed to look at stopping ACT from doing it but let players continue yet they decided a flat nope and I hope we see nothing like wormholes in the future.

They gave the "normal" players more waymarkers and a way to save and automatically place them, how is this a punishment?

"Waymarkers can no longer be placed during combat for PVE"

So you can't change them on the fly.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Yea, seems a bit overkill IMO. Using a 3rd party program to set waymarks isn't THAT much different than having a macro for it. The fact that setting waymarks mid-battle has been a "normal" thing for the entirety of the game so far and has legitimate instances of use (T9, 24-mans, ultimates.. at least), it's a shame they couldn't find a better alternative. I understand it's part of the bigger fight against mods in general, just sad to see a fairly common and legitimately useful feature bite the dust like this.

Just be thankful that they didn't scrap the markers entirely from the game XD

Also with around here so many threads saying that everyone should want to become better at the game, and that FF14 is way too easy, you would think that people would welcome a little difficulty spike instead of complaining about it.

Am not sure it's that bad, but it could be made into a EXT/Savage/Ultimate-only rule, if it upsets people so much.

Going to be great for 24 mans. Tank rushes in and immediately pulls, you're locked out from placing A-B-C markers for the adds, raid proceeds to scatter like headless chickens.

I suppose they're going to design around this. Anything that requires coordination mid-way in a fight where the arena changes will be a no-go. Alliance mechanics that require a manual alliance split will stop being a thing.

I not just markers he was talking about it was one example which they happen to be doing something about like or dislike it. Its the pluggin/triggers outside of the DPS meter that they are know starting to be aware of.
