    Agree with OP.

    Looking side-by-side at the concept art and finished product really makes me feel like they rushed through making the game. The concept art looks really nice but they did a really bad job translating it into actual map design.

    I hope they take the time to make the maps in 2.0 look as close to the concept art as possible. Because the concept art is really what I want to experience in-game as well.

    btw, OP suggest changing the title of this thread, it doesn't really describe what this thread is about. This is a good topic, but I might have overlooked it with a title like that.

    Hopefully they find a way to get rid of the whole cut & paste concept, or at least get it down to a minimum for 2.0. If that would cause more technical issues, I personally wouldn't mind if they chopped up the regions into smaller separate zones instead of having bleak-looking large maps.

    More detail to everything, as OP mentioned, is very welcome. One more thing, I wouldn't actually mind if the colour palette was even closer to the ones on the concept art (brighter, more vivid, more colourful in general).

    It's called Concept art for a reason. They don't have to make it exactly to the art. Very few of these will you ever see exactly represented in game. Even the ones they have given for 2.0 or further into the future. The artists give the graphic designers the outline or mood of what they are needing and they do the rest.

    Yoshi has already confirmed this.... 2.0 will have smaller "Zones" Like XI had which will give them the ability to design many more different types of zones, without running into the memory issues that the current client has, which forced them to use the cut and paste approach.

    Yes... but you can have a subjective opinion about the final outcome matching the mood of the concepts... Its not just that the concepts only inspire the in game environments... it feels in some cases like the concepts were more fantasy and the execution was more realistic

    I don't know if you ever saw this but they did a better job on this Demo than they did on the product that was actually released this was supposedly a Demo for a unnamed mmo they were working so I'm guessing this became XIV

    If you go to edit your OP, there is a button that says "Go Advanced" at the bottom. If you click this you will be able to change the title of the thread.
