WHM says he wasn't new, so I pull the boss and when he does the blue fire thingy, the WHM just stands around and doesn't get rid of his blue fire debuff. I'm like, "Dude, get rid of your fire" and he dies, we wipe. As we are running back he says "Oops, forgot about the fire" and I'm like, fine, we all have bad days. Pull again and he does the same thing. After we wipe again, I'm like "Run to the furniture to get rid of the debuff" and he was like "Oh, lol, I thought I was supposed to heal myself to full."
So I actually type out all of the mechanics in chat so there's no confusion because now I'm 100% convinced while he might not be new, he doesn't know the mechanics at all. He gets rid of his debuff correctly on the third pull, but when the boss charges him, he stands in the AOE cleave and doesn't even try to move out of it. He survives the first charge/cleave, and the fight goes on smoothly after that, but DPS is a tad low because no DPS from the healer so the fight drags on a little. WHM stands in the middle of two of the chandeliers that fall and burned them with the red fire rune thinger even though I said to not stand anywhere near the chandeliers, but we had enough other stuff around the room to get rid of the second blue fire. Second charge/cleave, the WHM goes down. Boss is down to around 25% health, my brother noobs it up and dies, so it's just the BLM and I left, but we somehow manage it. Was a frustrating run that took a good 45 minutes as opposed to the 15-20 it normally takes.
I don't understand how you can get to 80 and be running an expert dungeon and still not grasp simple things like not standing in giant orange danger zones. The blue fire thing I can kind of understand because I can't think of any other mechanics like that(though I haven't run many of the old raids, so maybe there?) and he was at least trying other methods of curing it, but when you see everyone else run to the drapes or chairs and transfer the blue fire to those, maybe you would get the hint. I mean, that's what I did the first time I ran it with the trust. I saw what the NPCs did and followed their example. Not rocket science. It is honestly so rare when we have someone bad in our groups that it makes it extra frustrating. But whatever. It's done, we finished, just venting.
