until 2.0 there is nothing we can do with the onslaught of negative reviews that FFXIV has gotten

always looking for good people.
Sadly, this might not be true, cant expect 2.0 to be a miracle, SE have a tendency with every game to do things differently and more often than not it bites them in the ass. So we will have to see when there is more information, it still will lack PVP on release, which many of your typical MMO players will be pissed, it will also be p2p which many will say "is it better than gw2 which is free?" and lose out there.
I garauntee 2.0 will still receive some bad reviews, but all with a general "going in a better direction" motto.
Yup it's not like 2.0 is going to be a different game just new environment tweaks.Sadly, this might not be true, cant expect 2.0 to be a miracle, SE have a tendency with every game to do things differently and more often than not it bites them in the ass. Also there will be all the same systems we have now in the game that I think even the whitest of the knights can admit; aren't enough but before the year ends we'll probably get a few patches that alleviate these issues a bit.
In few years SE will have worked on the features that are possible with the new server structure and also they've had time to tweak them to be more fun.
The question is how many players will still be in the game and will it make big enough or any waves in the gaming media for people to notice the changes.
There are also still systems that hold the game back and despite promising an overhaul. At least from my point of view the battle system to me feels pretty much exactly the same as it did in beta days. Yes I'm not smashing action button anymore but as annoying as that was in the end of the day it was the least of the battle system's faults that still are in the game.
Classes are still mostly the same but most importantly the actions are too and when they're not they're way too obscure to apply to most normal fights.
This is why it was important for Square to keep gamers' good will all the way to 2.0. With the introduction of the subscription model and mounts that are essentially designed to grab more players that good will has been ruined. Square needs players to talk about improvements in the game building up to 2.0 - it's marketing and the few subscriptions to the game shouldn't substantially affect the development of 2.0 if they want it to be a success.

Oh no, I can hear them coming.. run away!
*sigh*
Well, respect to placing VI at #1
And i suppose the article does write its reasoning well.
It does not brand this to XIV forever, but looks at the game as 1.0
That's fine with me, and probably accurate even today as a look at now, and not later.

Make it happen.
Just shows how retarded IGN is. Comparing XI or XIV to any other FF release is like comparing apples to oranges.
Account deactivated. Holding out for Guild Wars 2.
