Make SCH great again! Seriously though, we just want our class to be fun and engaging again, not OP, is that too much to ask for?
Well healers aren't as critical... though... the healing part of keeping a tank alive during multiple mob spam... I would like to hear from healer players on that one. Because that's a lot of Damage incoming on the tank. I've done it with SCH so I know very well you have to be on the Ball.
I do know WHMs will usually spam Holy during AoE encounters and SCH will alternate between heals and Art of War spam. Healers its more about making sure that Tank who has enormous amounts of mobs on him stays alive long enough for people TO burn them down.
All depends on players (tanks, heal and DPS) for that one.Well healers aren't as critical... though... the healing part of keeping a tank alive during multiple mob spam... If I have a decent tank and decent DPS going on, I can DPS quite a lot as a healer. The trick is more about knowing and using your healing resources correctly:
For WHM the priority is to have a strong regen on the tank (Asylum plus Regen is enough most of the time), then you can get safer with Divine Benison and the healing up effect of Asylum and Temperance (free 10% mitigation on this one). Don't be afraid to use Benediction, it's not an "Emergency only" button, it's a healing oGCD.
AST depends on preference, but I prefer running dungeons in Diurnal, no the same principle applies : keeping the regen on the tank (Aspected Benefic and Celestial Opposition / Collective Unconcious). Essential Dignity is VERY strong too, learn to play safely the "How low can you go?" game on the tank.
I'm not very familiar with SCH so I'll let people correct me on this one. Usually I start with a shield on the tank between pulls and then I use fairy actions and Lustrate if needed. Sacred Soil is to be considered if I feel the tank could do with extra mitigation. Recitation Excog is a powerful heal too. Don't be afraid to eat your fairy for the aetherflow. 70+ has the Fay union, which puts a good regen on the tank.
DPS wise:
- Always DoT (when following the tank, you can DoT mobs as you run along), but don't DoT if mobs are about to die.
- Watch your MP (AoE eat more mana than usual) and use Lucid Dreaming / MP economy tools accordingly.
- WHM has the stun effect on Holy which can be mitigation somehow. It stops incoming damage for a few seconds (enough to cast a heal or throw in some oGCDs), and Swiftcast + Holy can be a life saver in a spiraling down situation. Assize is efficient in packs too (and you rarely use it for healing anyway!). And of course, Misery is a gain in AoE situation so build up your blood lily accordingly
- AST has 1.5 cast on Gravity, so you can weave an oGCD after each cast. Earthly star is as good for AoE damage as for a free heal on the tank. You can detonate it anytime during the full effect 10second timer, depending on Tank and mobs health-pools.
-SCH AoE is instant so you're free to weave in pretty much everything in your Art of War spam. Just consider available resources (do I have Aetherflow? Do I have fairy gauge? Do I have a fairy at all?) at all times.
For me as NIN:
Death Blossom > Hakke Mujinkatsu
I'll also weave in "Hellfrog Medium", "Doton", "Katon", and "Goka Mekkyaku". I'll use certain Mudra combos depending on Kassatsu.
With "Enhanced Kassatsu":
Doton and Katon, then Kassatsu > Goka Mekkyaku.
With Kassatsu but without "Enhanced Kassatsu":
Katon x2, then Kassatsu > Doton

For WHM
1. Multidot(spam dia)on everything during tank pull the mobs
2. Put regen and asulym into tank
3. Use swiftcast and holy + assize once mobs are into stack
4. spam holy
5. Once you need refresh regen, doubleweave tetra and divine benison into it
6. If dps is bad you can use benediction, but usually mobs die before that
7. spam lilies between pulls so you do not need waste 3 gcds in the middle of the pull for misery
8. You can also put regen with wings for extra healing and mitigation as well
That way you do more dps than average dps player in expert roulette as healer.

This.
Single target DNC? Meh, you're mostly just bolstering another, stronger DPS the entire time...
AoE DNC, on the other hand, is like putting a helicopter blade on a merry-go-round.
Probably because the base potencies of their aoe attacks are not far behind their single target counterparts.

Loving SAM a lot and it does appear to have some really solid AOE options (even with the issue of some of your AOEs being conal). Anyone have a good cheat sheet for SAM AOE since there isn't one here yet?
