I would personally finally be able to willingly try monk.... but alas, I can't stand positionals no matter how they justify them. DRG and NIN make them bearable with only have 2 and making trick attack not require the rear made it even better.

I wonder when they are going to complaing about bosses don't being a dummy doing nothing bcs all the mechanics are unnecesary busy work por something like that, i guess after making every job a single button perhaps?
Might as well right? Since everything getting dumb down and more "Simplified" on every Expansion/Update. And also, removing positionals for Melee will just push me away from this game... As Bishop BullWinkle will say: "Hell naw, to the naw, naw, naw, naw"

Yes they should completely ignore the minority who has no will to adapt or learn to play certain jobs. And how do we decide who is part of the "community"? I took a quick survey of this thread:
12 people would like positionals to be flat out removed
16 people would like to keep positionals as they are now
14 people are unhappy with current positionals but think they should be revised or replaced with something else rather than just removed
4 people do not care either way
8 people expressed opinions that were too unclear to put in any of the above categories
I omitted a few posters who did not express any opinion on the topic.
It seems to me that the participants of this discussion are far from unanimous in their opinions. How, then, do we reach a consensus on what the community really wants? Do we ignore those who would like to remove positionals since they are clearly filthy casuals who want to dumb down the game? What about all the millions of players who do not even post on the forums?
However Square enix did the opposite with many many things in the game.
They listened to the minority and made terrible changes like Warrior ones in SB or GNB sounds.
They dont know what people really want, and you see here people in majority want to keep the positionals and even make them more significant to the gameplay.

The "keep", "remove" and "make changes" categories in my survey are roughly equal. In the "make changes" category there were a lot of people who think positionals are a stupid/outdated/annoying/whatever mechanic and should be removed, but something different should be added in their stead. So I would say opinions for and against positionals as a gameplay mechanic in this thread are roughly half and half. Then you have to consider that using forums as a survey platform exhibits selection bias. The people who bother registering on the forums are more invested and more skilled in the game than the average player. It's likely that the group that wants to keep positionals are overrepresented here. As such I do not think the players who have trouble with positionals and would rather have them removed are a minority in the player base as a whole.Yes they should completely ignore the minority who has no will to adapt or learn to play certain jobs.

Truthfully there's no reason to. They work as intended and if it ain't broke don't fix it.
That being said if they did, the development time for them to create a new system for melee to interact with would be better used elsewhere.
People also need to account for the fact that savage and ultimate are probably the only places where positionals have the most impact. Currently(given how ShB was made easier at launch for people to adjust) most content is easy, going into 5.2 this is supposed to be changed and content will return to normal difficulty. That being said there will be more punishment for bad tank positioning and a melees inability to adjust and in some cases play a bit greedy for their positionals.
To me its a risk reward system, yeah this mechanic may kill you, but if u time it right u get more dps and it might be a blue or better in your parse. I suggest any melee mains who think they're dumb try E2S savage, I love the hectic movement and still getting my positionals off on DRG or NIN.
But ultimately it's preference. That's just my 2gil.

But would they really need a new system? Melee would still have to maximise the time spent in melee range unlike other dps. And no one on this thread (to my knowledge) has really explained what special mechanic all physical ranged jobs have to deal with that makes them engaging to play without positionals. Their rotation? I'm all for more interesting melee dps rotations if that's where the problem lies.

MSQ
Viper

they can remove them, since they lowered the penalty for not doing them.
I feel they slowy reduced the amount to one day totaly remomve them, cause on some savagethere is boss with no pos req. i mean at that point, it does not really matter, should find something else to make them special
Risk and reward, in a lot of cases you don't have to move out your safe spot to keep dpsing, youll lose your positional if you play safe tho.But would they really need a new system? If a tank has the face the boss at us in a fight, I have to play risky to get my positional and then get back into the safe spot to not die. The reward is a higher parse and a faster death because I dodged back in and lived after I got my positional. That's fun and creates good awareness within a fight.
Exactly. You see what people HERE want. Forum posters are an incredibly small percentage of the population. The overwhelming majority of players don't post here and it's SE's job to keep them happy too.Yes they should completely ignore the minority who has no will to adapt or learn to play certain jobs.
