They said explicitly that they were adding options for progression that weren't Bozja. Ironically, Eureka might have been a lot better if you had the option to spend uncapped tomestones for the crystals all through Stormblood.
That's good news then ^
I did not read or look at were they talked about next Relic
All I want is something that is a bit of a grind but nothing only really hardcore players can do. Also I dont want it restricted behind content like Eureka ever again. Please give us a lot of ways to gather the necessary items to get them. Be it with beast tribes, tome stones, dungeon runs and stuff like that. And if you have to use new maps for it again then please release them in a way that one can do it solo and in their own time too or make it just one of the ways to get it.
The eureka relic was just horrible imo. Restricted behind the new content and if you did not like it you simply either grind something you hate or ignore the relic..which I find sad because right now I do a lot of ARR relic stuff while I have no other content that interest me until the next patch.
I also want to have a bit more story behind it and give the weapons at least some lore.
I'm not sure what to think about this really. Because the more we get relics the less impact they have, in a way. We will have Grolt and Rowena, say "this is the strongest weapon I ever forged!" for the fourth time in a row. So I actually liked that Eureka was more about the story around the Isle of Val / Baldesion rather than our weapons themselves. So here I'm more excited to hear about Bozja and Hrothgars.
The Zodiac and Anima 'there is some soul in that weapon' stuff felt uninspired to me. It's awkward to try and force a link between that kind of gameplay and its potential lore, at least for me.
This appears to have completely passed me by
I would love to see more solo-able content, but my main gripe was always that I was trapped in Eureka. I couldn't log in, join a hunt train for a while, leave it to run expert or check my retainers without also leaving that instance, and then go back later. If I had a good instance I wanted to go back to I was sol if I left, so I had to stay for as long as possible and let other things fall by the wayside. That was what really drove me nuts. Oh, and I couldn't afk in there without making sure I twitched every 10 minutes. I could forget getting up to fix dinner or feed my cats and run to the bathroom or anything.
If this new place isn't as obnoxious as THAT, I'm happy.
IMO I think what hurt Pagos the most was the way the map itself was designed. Pyros suffered from it to a degree as well while Anemos and Hydatos were quite open and free compared to the other 2 which made getting around when low level much easier on the player. But since people complained so much about it "taking forever" to get exp after they died off in a corner of the world alone doing something stupid and not getting raised maybe remove that timer so it's ultimately up to them to either push the button and take the loss or wait to be booted out of the instance to keep their EXP. Note make them wait for their instance timer to expire and auto boot to keep exp. If they abandon or leave on their own or drop from afk they get the exp loss because... I'm an evil cat :P
I liked Eureka far more than the Zodiac and Anima weapon quests. The only things that stood out as something I might have liked changed were the light farm in Pagos as that held up progress on that stage of the weapon and boosting the drop rates for special drops from specific fates like the ones needed to expand the board or things like the cassie earring.
Biggest issue with Eureka, in the simplest terms, was that it was far too much work for far too little reward.
"But it's for the best weapon in the game!" Yes, but by not enough to justifying doing all of that work when you can just wait a few weeks or so for a tomestone weapon that is a close enough option. If I wanted to suffer that much on a grind, I would play XI.
If they can revolve the upcoming relic content around less punishing grinding yet still bear at least somewhat engaging activities all with the mindset of wanting most players to do it rather than trying to force a "not for everyone" bottleneck on it, then it should (hopefully) come off a lot better than Eureka.
There's something here. Although the way FFXIV level cap endgame unfolds might be a bottleneck for how special said relic stuff can be. Somehow, the "good stuff" of Eureka was the "elemental" gear, that helped you in Eureka and Baldesin. Somehow it made sense.
we need options to get relic if its just fate train again then it will be boring af.
