The timing. It doesn't sound like it's timed up with the actual audio of the song(s) I'm doing at all. This drove me crazy last time, and it's driving me crazy again.
It's like FF Theatrhythm, but not fun in the slightest.

It's coming up just fine with the music on my end. Could it be latency? Are you pressing a button after it reaches the diamond? A reminder, it has to be right before it hits it or right as it hits it.
I'm talking audibly. When I hit the button for the inputs it doesn't sound like it's in sync with the music being sung. I'm getting a perfect score on the game just about every time, but it mentally pains me when it doesn't match up like actual rhythm games do.

I don't think the buttons are actually meant to sync up with the song. Just a way to keep you pretty distracted while the song plays so you have to do it or it gets worse.
I can recognize some of the rhythmic patterns, but between how simplified they are, how hard it is to discern the melody of the song (I didn't even recognize it from Starlight de Chocobo until I listened it on my orchestrion; choral music isn't the optimal choice of genre for this type of game) and how loud the sound effects of hitting are compared to the music it's hard to tell if they match the song at all. I have to play entirely visually, which hurts my accuracy. I can still pass the songs easily enough though.
I have tried it over 15 times and its failed on 95% of the hits. I tried combos before overlaps and when overlaps and still says miss on 95% of them. I'm pretty sure from my ping of 200 that is causing it. This event not fun at all like last years. How about next time they add a Christmas theme dungeon or fate. Looks like just buy barding next year off Mogstation if want it.
Clearly you are doing something wrong. Your ping has nothing to do with it, that minigame doesn't communicate with the server, it's entirely client-sided.I have tried it over 15 times and its failed on 95% of the hits. Yeah I posted on his/her other thread exactly what to look for on screen to time it just right in detail. I did the very same thing until I actually just watch the the music and diamond run on my screen and had an "A-ha" moment.
They are definitely intended to synch up. If they don't, then you're probably hitting them enough to get credit but not to sound like they're supposed to.
There's also going to be some degree of latency between pressing the button and it being "fully pressed" and registering as it moves downward.
Rhythm games work better on DS for me. Obviously not an option in this case, but it feels like there's less delay between your intent and the computer recording your input.
As someone who enjoys rhythm games quite a lot, this one feels like Project Diva... if it was emulated with lag. Unfortunately, I dont have a way to play XIV at 60fps with oil baron internet, but I'm positive there's a difference between the intended input latency vs what I'm getting on a console. They are definitely intended to synch up. I absolutely cannot get a perfect on the harder difficulty without luck. My key presses are the same, but sometimes it's a crit, sometimes its a miss. Not a big deal, since you get full certificates either way, but it'd bother me a lot more if you didn't. Thankfully that is not the case.
