I've been trying the coats on my male characters as I come across people wearing them - IIRC the healer coat has a full 'skirt' while the tank coat is open at the sides; caster is a floor-length version of the tank coat. Dragoon and striking are the same base leather jacket with differences in the collar and cuffs, and aiming is the same but turned into a longer coat. I haven't seen the scouting one yet.

Those same devs also gave us the Replica Sky Pirate sets of all roles, unlocked for every role. Seems they think moving forward that them being open is the best course. But how dare they "homogeneize" how we look by giving us even more options.

I was gonna make a collage but my Photoshop decided to crash on me three times ugh.

Anyway, in most cases - the chest-piece is shared between at least two models in the female version: Tank/Healer/DRG, Ranged DPS/MNKSAM, NIN (no sleeves)/Caster + either a full-length skirt, half-length skirt or no skirt. The point is that the gear is interchangeable. The Caster set could be seen as for healers, the DRG set could be used for tanks etc. They don't have a set class "look" to them like most other gear in this game has.

I prefer checkers personally just like I don't want to see all gear unlocked. I have a different opinion than you so you're just going to have to accept it sorry. It's not a question of how DARE I. The world is filled with people who think differently. Get used to it.

On males, the tank chest piece is literally the caster chest piece with one less roll of fabric used... if that doesn't scream artificial role restrictions, I don't know what does.

I'd still like for all gear except relics to be glamourable for all jobs. The whole "WHM in heavy armor kills class identity" argument hold zero water when tanks are running around in speedos or frog suits.

I'd love to use the aiming coat on my Samurai, but at least my MCH will look badass (the Samurai version's collar is terrible).

How does giving many more options mean everyone is going to look the same?

Can't edit because phone. We already have a good Chuck of the community that uses the same few glamour's for everything anyway so I don't see how giving everyone some many more options is going to suddenly make everyone look the same

I'm done responding here... but having some things that are for a specific roles makes that gear unique for that role. It increases the diversity because not everyone can wear it. It's not a question of having every role wearing the SAM YORHA top that makes it more diverse. It just makes people look the same and I'm not in favor of that. We got at great Level 1 glamor coffer. I think that was wonderful. I also think it's wonderful that some items are role specific.

Have fun getting them to change it. If they do fine but not something I'm in favor of.
