I loathe ranged dps who stand out in Narnia while in a damage intensive fight. Like if you aren't going to make the effort to stand in range of my aoe heals, i'm not going to make the effort to keep you alive. We were in the Copied Factory, and This MCH consistently stood as far away from the healers as possible. I tried to yank him in several times and he just bee lined his way back to his corner so he could edgelord it up. I told him "Stand in range of my heals" and he retorted with "I'll stand where i wanna stand". So i brought out the old "Then perish" line and made a point to never directly heal him, he would only be healed by my AoE abilities.

A couple deaths later, he started standing in range.

It's always the people with some variation of "wolf" in their name, or something equally edgelordy. News flash kids, the lone wolf starves and dies but the pack survives. I don't care what your RP persona is, we're trying to clear some content.

I'm BLM and I tend to camp in max caster range, because as someone else noted, we don't do movement too good. I kind of get it. I mean whats the point of ranged if you don't use that distance but also yeah. I get the point as well, when I heal and your party is spread out its like @_@. I try to stay on the side my Alliance woukd normally take but that's not always possible.

I know why the healer last night rescued me now, even though I wasn't about to get hit with anything. XD

BLM is actually very mobile now. There's not really an excuse to be that far out.

Think of it like this. Healers generally position themselves just behind melee (near the center of the room if practical). You can stand anywhere you want as long as it's within 15-20 yalms of the healer. If you're not taking any extra damage other than room aoes and the healer has to target you specifically for a heal, you're too far away.

Though it is also generally good to stand just behind melee because it's easy to dodge stuff from there.

So... my take on all this stuff in the last 2 pages..

BLM is fairly rooted til they can get Between The Lines, and get creative with the teleport move they got in tandem with Leylines..

I never felt slighted at a PLD using clemency. Go for it. I can be real slow sometimes, and I do have bad days and there are times I am held prisoner by the GCD. I am good, but I am not perfect, I can and will screw up and your death can be a result of that. This extends to any job capable of self heals. No one wants to, nor likes to die, do what you must to prevent it.

Ranged Jobs hanging out in outer space: I try to form a "Triangle" between me and the DPS. The tank is the top of this triangle, and I am in the middle, dps are left and right. I mentally build a radius around myself and gravitate towards the dps within this triangle, but both must be in the "circle". It doesn't matter if the tank isn't as the running regen should hold them over. Probably the only situation where DPS is moved up ahead of a tank on my priority list.

As a DNC, I tend to be on the front lines anyway because some of our AOEs are only melee range, and the 2 flourish windows therefore puts us at the front anyway, because of Bladeshower, Bloodshower and Rising Windmill being part of the window.

I don't care if a guide says to do it this exact way "ranged bait", so I automatically have to run south even though I am north. Just because a guide says something one way doesn't make me care. Get off your high horse book readers, because I actually don't care. If something doesn't go exactly as planned you all die, because you don't know how to do it any other way. Ridiculous. That ninja wasn't gonna get any extra uptime anyway, he died 3 times that run.

For the record I did start moving down south when the ninja walked off the edge. You all killed yourselves, multiple times.

Had an... uh... interesting 50/60/70 roulette just now. Zone in, Sastasha HM as DRG. Okay, not my favorite but not heinous either. (Or so I thought...)

Tank pulls big, nice, good sign--anddd the aggro is instantly on me and the healer because level sync killed his tank stance. Understandable, I've been there before, I feel your pain, bro. Second pull goes better, things seem like they'll work out fine, but first boss, healer does not cleanse a single debuff. BRD stands near them. Double stacks of debuff. Healer gets targeted by the tail attack, tank doesn't stun... Healer dies instantly. Welp. We finished the fight, at least.

Next pull, tank drags all the crabs into the room with the naga bowladies, which theoretically would have been fine and sped things up if literally anyone but me had bothered to the hit the middle add, the Drowned Wench that spawns the healing orbs. No one touched that add but me, so I just get to watch the healer confused about where the damage is coming from while the Drowned Wench continually heals herself back to full... took twice as long as normal. RIP.

Then I brb'd and kept the party waiting for a sec (which was my bad--was #41 in the queue so I thought I had time to go pop some food in the oven; queue popped much faster than expected, sorryyyy. ._.) Second boss, BRD uses the LB1 on Captain Madison. Not Captain Madison and all his adds... JUST Captain Madison. On the last add before the boss, I got his holmgang... and the tank dragged him away from me so I couldn't hit him. T_T Then final boss... half the party ignores the boss and the arms to DPS the tentacles? Why? Then the BRD again used LB1 on the boss by itself?

Only one person in the group got the mapping achievement.

Never knew that people thought the last name wolf was edgy. Though I’m sorry you had to deal with that, not everyone with this last name is like that. <3

I constantly get self-important DPS thinking they can lead me like I'm on a leash, always running ahead of me and trying to pull things. It's funny to watch them learn and stop doing that when I don't save them. What's not funny is that it happens in 2019 and somehow people are learning such bad habits, even in high-level dungeons. If you queue as a DPS, you submit to playing however fast or slow the tank wants to go. You're not entitled to be asked what the precious DPS wants to do.

I would say this happened to me when I did Baelsar's Wall yesterday, but actually it happens literally every time I tank. Even before they can get fed up with me not speedrunning the duty, they just frolic ahead right into enemies and then sprint back. If you want to be the first person to encounter a group in a duty, be the tank.

Sounds to me you think you are one of those self-important tanks who's just petty. You are playing with mature people here, not some high school children you have to teach not to do a meanie weanie and pull ahead of you. Boohoo, I AM THE TANK, I pull, boohoo. If someone pulls ahead of me, I just pick it up, because I'm not a petty person and I don't want to put more strain on people. That never happens though because I'm actually not a slowpoke. I would kick you on the spot for griefing. Had a tank who was waiting 2 minutes almost between each pull. Guess we'll just stand here then, you are the boss mister tank! That's not how it works, fortunately. Just because you are the tank doesn't mean other people expect you to go at a decent pace, just as it's expected you do decent DPS and as a healer at least attempt to DPS too. You don't get a free pass because you are mister boss tank. Also, if you constantly get them, you are most likely the problem that people get so tired of you being so slow, that they pull ahead of you. It never happens to me, never.
