Increase floor size of small houses / apartments

I understand why the houses were so small initially, but the game has moved on from operating systems that held it back.

Time and time again Yoshi has said he couldn't add more houses due to data capacity, yet he continues to add houses. So, I don't think it's outlandish for me to ask for larger small houses / apartment floorplans.

Suggestion: The top floor of small houses should be the same size as the basement. This doesn't devalue the medium size, as it's floor is almost double the basement size of a small and it gets an entire extra floor. Also, apartments floor sizes should be the size of the basement floor of a small.

Reasons: Logically the progression in house sizes make sense this way; apartments have 1 small house floor, small houses have 2 apartment sized floors, medium floors double and have 1 more floor, and mansions triple floor size along with the standard three total floors from the medium. Also, this doesn't necessitate an increase of data / loading capacity since the limitation of items within the homes would remain the same.

Possible Issues:Development time: I don't see how just increasing the floor slightly could take that much time for a modeler or designer to implement. Issues with placed furnishings / glitches after implementation: add the extra flooring to a wall that has limited space for furnishing placements to be glitched with (the back wall with the door or the wall with the stairwell, the front wall with the frontdoor and 2 windows). This would limited the amount of furnishings conflictions. Offer a warning to players before the implementation takes place that furnishings should be removed from the first floor. Put furnishings with the NPC and return possible one-time limited furnishings in a temporary extended house storage tab. Put a warning to the player that once the item is placed it cannot be picked up.

Please, consider this upgrade in size. It makes sense that smalls and apartments are due for a size increase.

I'd love extra upstairs space so-oh much. I want to do a lot of things.

But if they do that, then seriously we'll need maybe a 100 item increase on smalls as well, to go with it.

Throw in like a 100 - 200 item increase for the other sized houses and I think we'd hit a real good sweet spot. Larges definitely need 200 extra items.

Or they just can have different sized apartments just like housing.

Cottage size apartments (2 floors, 100 item limit), house sized apartments (3 floors, 200 item limit), and mansion sized apartments (3 floors, 400 item limit).

The assets are already built in the game in regular housing. So they could make them have them available via the apartment building an toss in an enclosed backyard like terrace (like the rooms iin the Kugane inn, where you can put your outdoor furniture).

Such a change would be a bit more complicated than "remove your furnishings just on the first floor". The interiors are a single instanced space, not multiple instanced spaces. Everything would need to be completely removed because the interior you currently have would no longer exist.

Someone who's got their small at the 200 placed item limit along with a full storage would have to spend an awful lot of time going back and forth between the resident caretaker transferring a couple of dozen items at a time back to their house. I suspect many house owners would be upset over it. Then there are the house owners who are fine with their current interiors and would be upset over being forced to recreate their interiors for the sake of other players.

Any such change, if possible for SE to do, should be optional and not mandatory.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

I think the upgrade is called getting a Medium/Large.

As for apartments, I do believe at some point during a Fan Fest it was confirmed that apartments would get upgrades.

Base price for base apartments, and from there, I think the system should be Xgil for upgrade 1 or being able to buy the largest right off the bat. Not an instant upgrade for all who are happy with their smaller spaces.

In fact given how I have 10 alts with apartments/FC rooms each, I'd personally detest it.

Ya, I'm at all the item limits. Maybe they could do it like an optional renovation? That way at least we know it's coming. Meh, probably still cause problems. Really I think they should just go ahead with instanced housing of some kind and Legacy all the current stuff. Meaning if we have it we get to keep it, but no more dev time would be spent on it.

I'm afraid you're just gonna have to upgrade to a medium then. No way they are changing something implented ingame that has been the same way for years plus their data and history claim excuses.

Also with the new loft and stairs items you can make so many more levels and be creative. Don't waste item slots with all the possible cluster, just be modern and clean. Just find some good ideas in housingsnap or twitter and you can make some beautiful homes even with small houses.

Not everyone likes the modern sterile look though... but I digress.

I don't think you're ever going to get the increase in small upper floor size. It would mean they would have to retool all of their small housing plots so the yard didn't get cut off weirdly at the very least. However, I am all for apartment upgrades. Cramming even a basic one bedroom apartment into my alt's apartment was... not easy. I would give quite a bit if I could have enough space to actually partition some rooms out and create a better space. I would also dearly love to see slot upgrades across the board, but that's a different thread.
