How to speak having 0 idea of the issue. You have a few options. Turn off names on everyone but friends. Set the number of displayed characters and items to minimum. Turn down your graphics when you enter there. Turn down how many characters are rendered at a time. Upgrade your graphics card. Buy a better computer. Turning off the names worked for me.
In a gacha game we would get compensation for this total failure of event, but in ffxiv we'll get an excuse
we spent our day farming to fill that gauge and now we can't do the event cause ppl from other servers that didn't even help made the instance full and the game isn't smart enough to make a new instance automatically.
I'm at work and will be for another several hours. From what everyone is saying this sounds like a total disaster though, from people who aren't on right now not getting to participate to allowing other servers to congest areas.... Hopefully even if they don't do anything to fix this patch the future portions of this will have some applied lessons learned.
...catsplaining.
To be fair, the reason gacha games have to compensate for everything is that if anyone ever misses the chance to get anything they could lose someone who single-handedly contributes 10% of their profits. Not possible for a similar situation to exist with FFXIV.In a gacha game we would get compensation for this total failure of event, but in ffxiv we'll get an excuse

This is a serious problem. I mean, who thought this would be a good idea? No one wandering cares that they're preventing local people from participating. They're forming cross-world linkshells to coordinate the raids without caring at all that they might keep people from those worlds from being able to participate. This needs to be dealt with sooner rather than later, or this event is going to be missed by tons of people.
Also, why is it automatically 2 hours after? How about having it schedule sometime a few days later? Give people a chance to get here and do things.. some people have jobs and won't even get to participate at all.
Anyway, as an example, I'm on Sargatanas and people from other worlds on the datacenter are already raiding us because Jenova (which was about to pop) was full and you couldn't visit it. We have 35 minutes left. People from Sarg are going to be locked out, while many of these people have already participated on multiple worlds. This is not right.
I sure am glad SE allowed off-worlders to raid firmaments that aren't theirs. Currently watching a lot of folks from Jenova proclaiming in Shout that it "isn't their fault" we can't get in to our own area. Alright then, sure. >_>
Allowing wanderers into the Firmament was a huge mistake honestly.
People are publicizing when the concerted events are happening on each DC's servers which leads to people swarming in and camping out in the Firmament of other servers in advance.
The least they could do is make it so you can do Restoration turn-ins outside of the Firmament so you don't get locked out of participation completely if an event is coming up soon.

I just got home from work, I was really excited about taking part in this, but I cannot even get to the Firmament to finish the dang opening quest. Tons of people from Jenova and other servers blocking us out, and heck, there might even be too many people on Midgardsormr trying to participate in a limited zone, too.
I love you FFXIV team, I love this game, but please fix this.
