18 Large Houses, and 44 Medium houses, and a crap ton of smalls that no one gives a F about. All gone within 3 hours of patch release. Didn't.even.get.a.chance to upgrade.

Could they add some 'high roller' wards that consist of purely Mediums and Larges? Maybe a nicer environment too. If not on the latter, then yes on the former lol

Forget about multiple wards. Go for fully instanced plots where each one can have many owners. You can change who's stuff appears on a plot via the placard, but yours always shows when you arrive from outside.
If course,this will lead to desirable plots having many more owners, so they could reduce prices on the ones that aren't selling much, to spread out the population a bit.
Also, the streets will be common to hundreds / thousands of owners, making it more likely you'll see other players out in the neighborhood, instead of the ghost towns we have now.

The housing system actively bothers me lol. Specifically the system, how it works, not the objects which I think are great and quite cute.

I love the game, and I would absolutely recommend FFXIV as a fantastic MMORPG in a general sense... But I actively have negative feelings towards this housing system and it sucks that I feel that way. I really wish they go instanced house(s) system and take advantage of those, imo, superior features. How cool to be able to control our backdrops (skybox and such, most boss arenas could probably become awesome platforms / skyboxes), getting access to wild things like the final zone of ShB (actually may lore reference it for this system too)... Nothing else in the game makes me frown like this .

The creative power we don't have, the creative power and freedom the devs don't have because of this. Being unable to add so many things or experience so many new features (when shackled to the current system exclusively)... ;(.

To note I don't think you need to kill or exclude the current Ward users either. Using a sort of Howel's Moving Castle mechanic, where the wizard castle owned property in town but also his own space at the turn of the knob.

Although as an aside, sort of wishful compromise if it's "literally/financially impossible for us to make a new housing system", I've tried to think of an idea that would work with our current memory concerns (ish, lol), be useful for ward users too, and give some kind of Skyrim ish housing feeling with new game features via player owned and but built airships: here. (A drastic simplification being a more dynamic, physical, hopefully improved WoW Garrison, with more nostalgic FF features strapped in- not that WoW garrison is the first system to use socket customizing concepts).

Yeah the housing system could be so much better than it is. No question. But at this point it's very clear that the Devs - for whatever reason - aren't able to do anything about this except expand the wards periodically.

So YELLING AT THEM and calling their work stupid is highly unlikely to advance your cause. Nor is creating yet another thread of 2 pages or so to go along with the other hundreds of small threads. It would be far more effective to post your issues, politely, in one large thread that the EU and NA moderators can bring to the team's attention periodically.

As a footnote, Omega is one of the high populated servers on the Chaos data centre; there are still large numbers of houses standing empty including some mediums, so the problem you are raising isn't a generalised one. I don't own a personal house any more myself (I chose to surrender it since I have decorating rights in my FC house) but I clicked on the placard outside the empty house next door to the FC and could have purchased it there and then. No bots, no unhappy campers anywhere to be seen

They are sticking to their guns so hard about this that its just ridiculous.

One random person complains about the most random thing and we get a complete overhaul of a system, but the community continually asks for instanced housing or some sort of solution to the problems and they just dig in their heels and refuse to budge. Why they cannot keep the wards and add instanced housing as an alternative for those of us who would rather have it or just makes communities FC only and personal housing instanced, is beyond me. Unless they cannot do it technically and just do not want to admit that they cannot do something, which is cheap.

Of course idk what the JP players are asking for and since they haven't said I word to us for at least 2 years, beyond contest announcements and long delayed live letter transcripts, shows they really don't care about their non JP player base anyway.

This whole housing thing makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and their silence toward the majority of their players is incredibly shameful.

I was lucky enough to be able to upgrade from a small to a medium plot, though I agree that the system is very flawed and in need of major improvements.
