See these rifles? Give em to a new healer!

So these have just been laying around for how many years?

Cmon Square give the military fans in your community some love. These rifles could easily be used for a chemist/medic class. The perfect example for this would be Sharla from Xenoblade Chronicles. Instead of tossing potions at comrades you would fire magic ammunition at them for healing or into the air to have an aoe effect. You could also fire sleep or poison ammunition at enemies. I am well aware that tons of people have class ideas that have been going on for far longer than ive been playing this game. Just figured id have some fun and share this idea with the community. I would love to see these rifles be used ingame someday. With that being said I would love to read what people have to say or ideas that people have. Even if you dislike it I would love to know why as we do not all have the same taste.

Let me fire this high-velocity projectile at you, inflicting more damage than the serum within would ever likely heal you for... Nah, don't give it to a Marksman class, let's heal people with bullets?

There are some "rifle" designs in this game that might make sense for such Xenoblade crossovers. The ones you've linked are not them; they have little payload and long barrels for what would be excessive range, especially given their otherwise blunderbuss-esque muzzle... Even a nailgun would be a better basis for some manner of medic firearm.

I'd be all for a Chemist provided there were ideas for one that extended beyond just a contradictory weapon and a basic aesthetic, but simply wanting a weapon is not package enough by which to introduce a job, let alone into a role that will then require excuses for your weapon choice.

Or medics could use mako guns and remote weaponry, rangers could use long rifles, and mediators could be the like admiral and tank

These ideas shared work perfectly. Let us not forget that this is a fantasy game we can bend the rules ever so slightly as real world rules do not apply here. I mean people run around with no armor on at all and dont die so the whole shooting magic ammunition designed to shatter and heal on impact should be a no brainer for our invincible warriors of light no? Metal Gear is a somewhat realistic franchise and has something similar in peace walker. You could fire healing ammunition at co-op buddies. Truth be told I really am just looking for an excuse to give a gun to a healer. At the end of the day im no game dev so this is just sad rabble on my part. Although MPNZ has the straight forward idea of giving it to a ranger which is a no brainer.

I would love to be Ana, from Overwatch, or Sharla, from Xenoblade!
I really like gun/tech jobs, which is why MCH has been my go to dps since HW. I'm all up for a Healer with some sort of ranged ammunition.

Perhaps bring back those Measure Weapons from XII if guns for healers are "too immersion breaking"

A "chemist" healer idea might work pretty well with it. They don't even necessarily need to shoot potions, they could still throw em, with the weapon just being a... weapon.

Alternatively if we do want to shoot potions, the healer could use something more akin to a grenade launcher instead. Or if we do use the rifle, who says it has to shoot anything physical - it could be healing aether. Etc.

There's a lot of possibilities, really.

Dang these ideas are way better than I had in mind I freaking love it! ah if only this brainstorming session could go on forever. Potion tosses, Grenade launchers and sniper rifles. All for a healer. A man can dream cant he?

Throwing potions is exactly what chemists did in Final Fantasy Tactics. The gun was their weapon for attacking enemies like you mention. There they took potions from your inventory, which to me doesn't seem to be as good of a gimmick (and best potions aren't exactly at the level of healing spells) and instead I'd love to see instead mixing potions similar to mudra or dances.

Well we just have to make the potions be just as potent as most healing spells of course! These are chemists we are talking about. Masters of science and such. They will find a way im sure.

I'm fine with whatever, so long as the weapon serves the purpose. A long rifle just doesn't fit the sort of combat situations, within the contexts we've seen from XIV, you'd expect a Medic to fit in. Heck, with ranges as short as we have, it's hard to figure how it'd feel right for the game at all until we can bring in larger-area encounters and quite possibly stuff like open-world strategic raids of mob camps, kiting, ambushing, and the whole gamut.

A slingshot throwing potions? Sure. A one-handed repeater? Why not? A pistol that just fires actually bullets but leaves the other hand free to throw potions, casks, and grenades (which you could then shoot out of the air for whatever effect)? Of course. Just don't give the weapon an obvious apparent advantage that would then see zero use on the job you've given it to.
