Quality of tanks in duty finder

this week I have seen some bad tanking. examples include facing boss at group and getting cleaved repeatedly, running around the boss, not picking up adds in fights. These tanks were not low level. They were 60 and above. All the things I mentioned above are things you learn in the beginning. So why are so many people making such common mistakes.

    what is going on

I have seen more tanks who pull the minimum amount of enemies possible but I rather see tanks who turn enemies towards the party than the people who keep spinning bosses for some reason (have not seen those in a lomng time).

I found bad tanks to be common in Alliance raid roulette the most. I have alts on all NA/EU DCs and the same thing happens on all of them. I think the problem is having 3 tanks split into different alliances make them lazy and hope someone picks up the slack so they can play a weak semi afk dps instead. I stop bothering to aoe adds in ally raid cause it only gets me killed.

I try very hard to be patient with other tanks in duty finder raids. But Alliance raids are especially frustrating. I end up taking over most of the time because another tank is doing poorly, killing the raid, not getting out of bad or turning around to avoid status effects etc. I'm not talking about tanks who make a mistake or two, we're all human, but those who consistently seem not to know what the heck they're doing.

And then there are the ones who, for some reason, decide to use provoke to take the boss off of me when I'm tanking it just fine. I really just do not get that.

as someone who plays tank what annoys me is when im tanking in 24 man raids for some reason another tank will try and provoke the boss leading to it turning around seriously if a tank is tanking stop useing provoke.

Seems like alliances are where the tank problem is more prevalent. I don't very often see weird tanking in DF, even when I'm a healer.

I get my share of bad tanks in trial roulette too but doesn't compare to ally raid obviously. I don't know when the trend started but both tanks always have tank stance on when swapping is not even needed in most trials. Worse is when I opt to OT and have stance off only for other tank to turn it off and refuse to pull only to turn it on and provoke after I start to pull instead. I don't understand where these tanks are getting these ideas from. It is not even about being bad it is why they are even doing it?

Were you unable to clear the content? Probably not.

So, does it really matter? Not everyone needs to be pro. I don't see the point of this thread except to vent.

It doesn’t take long to get to 60 these days you can be 60 and still be a very new player just be kind and patient and give advice if they become obstinate then that is a problem you can kick at that point but try not to let it come to that.

I met someone in The Burn yesterday who was level 70 with 390 gear on the left, but high 60s on the right. In a min ilevel 340 dungeon. They died during the last boss, if you can believe it. I think people just notice bad tanks more because bad DPS can usually blend in to the background, whereas a bad healer or tank can't.
