what's the point of doing feast at all if I know I won't make it into top 100 and with the current old wolfcollar rewards being garbage?

If you aren't willing to put in the effort, that thousands of other people are, you don't get a reward, that's the point. Thousands of other competitors works shouldn't be degraded because you don't have the motivation, simple as.
