Black Mage isn't at all hard. The rotation is simple throughout its entirety as others have said. Though I've heard here and there that the AoE rotation still a foreign concept to some level 80's out there.

Movement becomes less and less of an issue once you learn to look at Swiftcast and later Triplecast as not only burst/frontloading options, but as movement options. Our HP pool is the same as all other DPS Casters and is dependent on gear.

Also, if you REALLY don't want to move for a moment, and you know a certain AoE isn't going to do something wacky like debuff or outright kill you... Pull a "Healers Adjust" move and use Manaward. Out of all the DPS Casters, as far as I remember, we're the only ones with a self-shield to mitigate damage.

Summoner says "hi." Though you should almost never be in a situation where you CAN easily cast the barrier at will, it's still there.

Summoners technically have a shield too. But manaward is the strongest defensive move in the game that is used by a class that isnt a tank. Ive lost count of the number of times the tank has died to something, agro comes for me, i pop ward, and i negate all the auto-attacks while the healer gets the tank back on its feet. If the healer is quick enough with the raise/tank with the aggro regaining moves(and i was quick enough with the ward) i often end up taking 0 damage in these situations. And even when that isnt the case and i get knocked around a little, the ward almost always lasts long enough for an awake healer to get the tank back up and toss out a heal or two.
