I could get behind this idea. It's something I have mulled over personally for a while since I too would like some form of difficult roulette.
In fact, I just thought of something along the lines of Frontlines "Roulette" where every day it's a different extreme primal, and only that extreme primal. You queue in solo to try your luck at clearing. Rewards would be tuned appropriately (i.e. Garuda challenge days giving paltry rewards in comparison to Thordan challenge days).
This way that people know exactly what they're getting into and whether or not they want to deal with said primal that day. Have the easier ones give less points to gather said rewards from the roulette. People who want to farm up fast will go for the harder primals, but it would not exclude people who would do the slower, easier route of only queuing on easy days.
As for rewards... mass tomes, mount for achievement (100? 200?), maybe guaranteed drop of crafting material and pony/bird/dog, titles, or exclusive glam.
---
Just a straight roulette would be a disaster, but I think it could work as a challenge thing.
If this were to get EX trials out of the mentor roulette (doubt it, but hey, I can hope), I'd be all for such a roulette existing.
I wouldn't really care about this roulette otherwise though, as I'd never do it.
Nidhogg and thordan would be just too much for newbies and you know it lol they can’t even do shinryu or now dying grasp and those are story mode trials :/
I've helped hundreds of random DF groups clear Ex trials. It's just about all I do for instanced running these past few years since I no longer participate in a static. Queue 5/5 ex trials while casually questing. If it pops, I help, give advice, stay the whole hour if necessary.
Not everyone plays just to down it as fast as possible. Some play this content just because they find it fun and enjoy helping others.
I don't see how its any different than using Party Finder and getting all players you don't know.
Linkshells and discords for this sort of stuff exist, both sync and min ilvl sync. Yes, that's going to tend to attract players who know the fights, but it also attracts new people who want the experience of fighting it with brainless mode off. Often these groups still wind up filling in pf for the last few slots, so still playing with randoms much of the time.
Heck, a few weeks after ShB launch I found a group doing O4S in PF, and that group cleared (eventually).

That said, the majority of nay responses to this thread does show that trying to rope uninterested people into a niche hobby might not be the best idea.
I sherpa'd a Tsuki EX group as a solo healer in the last weeks of Stormblood. Echo and the fact the party acknowledged they wouldn't be clearing without me helped.
I can understand not wanting to be put through that experience though. Esp. if you're not the healer and have no control over people staying alive whatsoever. Carrying trap parties to clears is only fun when it's possible.

No thank you. Unsynched is the worst (in my opinion, you're free to have yours), mind-numbingly boring. Most older ex rials can can be solo'd unsynched unless a specific mechanic prevents it.You know what, I wouldn't mind this given the following:
1. Restrict it to ARR and HW content, SB content added in 6.0, ShB content added in 7.0, etc.
2. Make it default to unsynced whether you run it via duty finder or roulette. Since they're old content, no need to sync them still.
3. Have a duty finder option to enter them synced (including min ilvl) for preformed parties that want to run them synced.
Bonus:
4. Not just EX trial, but also add Coil (Normal and Savage) and Alexander (Savage) to its own roulette with the same 3 settings above.
This way, new players can just queue right away with duty finder when they unlock these raids and EX trials and it will automatically be run unsynced and matched up with people running roulettes, and since they'll be unsynced, there is high chance of clear and lower chance of people bailing.
I want an ex roulette so that I can queue more than 5 extreme trials at once. Because right now that's essentially what I do to "randomly" get one. I enjoy the hard content, I don't mind wiping, and I enjoy helping others. I'm not there to down the boss in 2 seconds without having to try at all.
Just found this thread today and reading through it...
Blows my mind how much people are against the idea because "they" wouldn't want to do it. If it were added to the game, it's not like someone is now forcing you to do it. Just because it's a daily-roulette doesn't meant you have to do it. Those who want to get their daily stack of tomes and move on, stick to the quicker roulette options. Why not let those who would want this, have it?
