Personally, I prefer written guides with visuals where needed. Makes it easier to reference them during progression compared to a video, in my opinion. Animated gifs of certain mechanics are also preferred over POV videos for me, because I feel like I get a better overall of the mechanic rather than just a limited viewpoint.

Me too. Videos can still be chaotic, you have a POV which may or may not be your role and position in this fight - and even if you have a clear view, just seeing it doesn't mean you understand fully what's going on and how the mechanic is actually working. That's why I prefere a written guide, so I can look up what every attack and mechanic does and some pictures/gifs telling me the correct positioning/walking path in this phase.

For me it depends on the complexity of the fight.
I usually just read up the mechanics on the wiki to understand what kind of mechanics are expected.
But if the fight comes with a custom mechanic, then I watch a video to understand said mechanic.
When I'm bored however, I just go in blind

Was in a dungeon (Qitana Ravel to be precise) with me (ast) friend (dnc) a gnb tank and brd. The dots kept falling off we noticed and so my dnc buddy mentioned they could use iron jaws...

In case you are not aware of the bard toolkit, what he would be missing at that level since he had not done his quests would be:
The Wanderer's Minuet
Empyreal Arrow
Iron Jaws
The Warden's Paean
Sidewinder
Refulgent Arrow
Basically, his entire damage toolkit to make him viable.
...He was level 76..This was a 76 bard and he was missing all of the above because he did not do quests cause it was too time consuming.

Tonight was the second time I got a WAR while leveling my healers that was using Berserk! Both times were on DGs above level 70 (tonight was the lvl 75 one).

It's just, woah.

Also, I know most positionals were banished, but tanks? Tanks? There are still some so stop FIDGETING AROUND AND RUINING THEM!

Also had to file my third harassment report ever yesterday. Long story short, they genuinely hated me because I was playing on my Lalafell.
Them: Hey, are your parents still alive?
Me, knowing I shouldn't reply, but thinking I can shut them up with a truth bomb: My dad is dying of cancer and my mom is a toxic person I've cut out of my life, thanks for asking!
Them: I won't joke about cancer.
-2 minutes later-
Them: But your mom is probably like that because you're a Lalafell, js.

Last night had an Eden fight (N - Titan) that took an hour. But I'm not complaining! My boyfriend and I were WAR/ WHM combo and we were the only ones who knew the fight. Ater the first 2 wipes the party put a safety cone on him to follow him around and cheered him on as leader, it was cute lmfao.
We didn't end up clearing it but they all made considerable progress. : - )

Sort of happy story. Trying to clear old content on my alt (currently a lv 74 WHM slowly getting through ShB). Tried to get all the 24-mans done yesterday (the ones I had left at least). Dun Scaith went fine, just long wait time. Rabanastre was fine too. Ridorana was a slight struggle, lots of newbies, lots of failed math, one wipe on last boss, still fine though. Then Orbonne... Zoned in, half of alliance C left instantly. Ok, we can still do it. We somehow clear Mustadio. Some new people join, more people leave. We wipe on Agrias. Everyone leaves, vote abandon

Second try! Again, half of one alliance just leaves instantly. We clear Mustadio with one tank and three healers, I'm struggling so much to ress the summoners and red mages in the healer less alliance XD (any tips on how you target people in other alliances on PS4 with controller...? Using the touchpad was not very efficient...). We clear. Somehow. More people leave. The only tank left refuses to give up. We get some new people. Agrias is still a struggle, but we make it. Barely. Since Agrias takes so long, all alliances fill up!

Surprisingly, Thunder God and Ultima went just fine! Some derps, but no wipes. Had to do healer LB3 on Ultima, but that's ok. My healer partner said they had tried 7 times to clear, but every time people left after Agrias. Lots of people got their first time clear, it felt nice Reminder to people to don't give up just because you get Orbonne in roulette. It's very much clearable. Even with 50% or more new people.

This happened in HOH when xpac first launched and I was leveling a dancer.

I was leveling my dancer and happened to be in a group with a gunbreaker, dragoon, and another dancer. I made the dragoon my dance partner and we went on to clear the first floor (other dancer never made anyone else their dance partner, but who am I to tell someone else how to play their class). Suddenly on the second floor, the other dancer says "you know you can make someone your dance partner right?" I was just lost for words for a moment, then said "yah... that's why 'insert dragoons name here' currently has the buff xD ". They didn't reply and suddenly the dragoon has two dancer buffs on them as the other dancer went on to pretend that it never happened. -_-

On a more serious note I'm really sorry about your father, and your mother, and that that player felt it was okay to joke-insult you like that and make light of your situation. People suck.

I main healers, and right now I'm leveling DRG. And I swear, the mobs are perfectly still, the tank is doing great - until I have to apply Chaos Thrust. And then all of a sudden they're sideways. Or facing me. And I can feel so much rage start building.

And I appreciate it. I shouldn't have replied but I thought I could shock them into an apology. Or at least shutting them up, you know? They were egging me on the entire dungeon, and I was meeting them with an insane amount of cheer, hoping it would discourage them. It didn't, and that last comment just... why? Like, even if you don't like Lalafell... it's just some pixels... leave me alone. I just want to play a cute, helpful, happy smol...
